Roberto was fantastic!
Roberto was a fantastic guide for our tour of Pompeii! This was my second time taking a tour with Roberto and it was even better than the last. There were things we learned that I never would have noticed had he not pointed them out. He was very knowledgeable and kept a good pace for our group! I’d recommend him to anyone going to Pompeii!

Hands down best Pompeii tour guide
Roberto was by far one of the best guides I’ve been with. Having a guide who is an actual archaeologist take you on a tour of ancient ruins that he has helped discover is memory of the lifetime. It genuinely felt that we were on an episode of something on the discovery channel. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge but he is incredibly personable and very passionate about his work. I would recommend him as a guide for anyone who wants to explore Pompeii.

Knowledge makes the experience and Roberto is your guide!
Roberto is knowledgeable, patient, passionate about the history of Pompeii and funny. I learned so much from having him as our tour guide. He has working knowledge of the archeological discoveries in Pompeii and can cater the tour to ur historical interests whether the history is new to you or you are seeking advanced information. Being in a small group is so worth the investment for visiting this site compared to the larger shared tours. If I could give more stars I would. Helpful tips for visiting: bring water bottle filled, wear loose comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Consider an umbrella or hat to shade you from the hot sun, depending on when you tour. The site is much larger than one expects, and after tour you can spend multiple hours exploring more of the Pompeii area. There is a small restaurant on site offering light meals and beverages. Also...HIRE Roberto as your guide. You will NOT be disappointed.

Amazing day at Pompei with Roberto
I can't say enough positive things about Roberto and his tour of Pompeii. His level of knowledge about its history, culture, and the excavation itself is astounding. He was able to point out so many details that we would have easily missed without his knowledge. It felt like he brought us back in time nearly 2000 years on the day of the eruption. We highly recommend Roberto as a guide easily worth every penny.

Fantastic and fascinating tour
Roberto’s tour was recommended to me and I’m so glad it was because it was one of the best tours we’ve been on. Everyone in our group of 13 was raving about it afterwards. From the very start, Roberto was great in his communications with me while planning this excursion. He was always willing to answer my questions in a timely manner and arranged our transportation from our cruise ship to the site. It was clear on the tour itself that the history of Pompeii is something that Roberto is very passionate about and he shared many interesting facts with us as well as getting us to think about how life was lived back then. We also had someone with us who had some mobility issues and Roberto was very patient and thoughtful regarding her needs as we walked around. I would highly recommend this tour with Roberto, you won’t regret it! I felt like we left having made a new friend.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Jacinda! I’m happy that you and your group enjoyed my Pompeii tour!

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist cost?
+
Prices start at $497 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 3-Hours Private Walking Tour in Pompeii with an Archaeologist start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
