    About this experience

This whale watching tour is 2 hours long with a maximum of 6 guests. Our small groups make every seat a front row seat as you enjoy whale watching and educational talks from our marine naturalist onboard. Our vessels are safe, travel quickly to find whales and a fun ride for the whole family. See Humpback Whales that have traveled 3000 miles from Alaska to give birth and mate in the protected Maui Nui sanctuary off Lahaina where the waters are known for being warm and calm. On our whale watches we could travel anywhere from 2 to 10 miles from Lahaina, often encountering dolphins in addition to humpback whales. Guarantee whale sightings Dec-April, or go again for FREE! We are locally owned and operated since 1982 and every ticket supports our participation in marine research projects and our role as certified first responders to whale entanglements. Good company for a whale excursion

This was my final whale watch before having to leave Maui and return to the New England winter. We saw many whales breaching and tail slapping. Loved all the activity and being out as the sun was setting was extra special. A very enjoyable trip. Were (when) I am able to return I would book with this company again but perhaps on their 12 person boat. I don’t think the extra cost of a 6 person experience was worth it to me.

    Response from the operator: Mahalo!

VIATOR Can't Be Trusted to be Accurate

This was not as described on Viator. VIATOR listed snorkeling, sun screen, water provided, equipment provided--all NOT on the WHALE WATCH trip. Also VIATOR photos showed a boat with shaded cover--not the open pontoon we were given. BOOK DIRECTLY with the company--the info is accurate in their site. It was a good experience, and the company did all they could do. But this was not what we thought we signed up to do.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you had a good experience and that our team did everything possible to make your trip enjoyable. However, we’re sorry to hear that the tour didn’t match what you expected based on the description you saw. We always strive to provide clear and accurate information about our tours, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Booking directly with us ensures guests receive the most up-to-date details, and we’ll continue working to make sure all descriptions accurately reflect our offerings.

Great time, does not include snorkeling

I called TripAdvisor's number to ask if this tour includes snorkeling and was told that it does. When we got there it was clear that it did not. The directions to the meeting point is very unclear to the point of being wrong. It brings you to the mall nearby but there is no instructions where to go afterwards. The directions of the beach from the parking lot is not at all obvious. I had to call (the phone number to the company has no option to just talk to an agent, I had to choose option 4 as if I were going to buy another tour to get to talk to someone) to find directions. Once we got over the hurdles, the actual whale watching experience was good.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Sorry to hear you got incorrect infor from TripAdvisor, we try to ensure that your confimation email has all the correct details. We appreciate the feedback on the directions from the mall to beach and will add more details to help travelers in the future. When calling us option 4 is the correct option for any questions for our group and shared charters, Im glad they were able to give you a hand with that.

2 Hour Whale Escape Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Maui.

How much does 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $177 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Maui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Maui is not rushed.

Is 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 46 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Maui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour?

    +

Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Maui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Maui and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 2 Hour Whale Escape Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Maui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Maui?

    +

Maui's three signature days are the Hana road, the Haleakala summit sunrise and the Molokini snorkel sail, and all three are logistics problems as much as experiences. Sunrise summit entry is permit-controlled, Hana is a ten-hour driving day, and Molokini boats vary wildly in size. Our ranking rewards operators who handle permits and keep boat capacity low. On Outty we rank every Maui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Molokini Crater + South Maui Coast Adventure from Kihei, Maui, Maui: VIP Private Road to Hana Tour with Pick Up, Road to Hana Adventure Maui Tour with Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Maui?

    +

April to May and September to October. Whale season runs December to April. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Maui?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
