About this experience
From Siem Reap we embark on a landmark full‑day expedition to Preah Vihear to experience two of Cambodia’s most compelling archaeological treasures: the awe‑inspiring Preah Vihear Temple and the ancient, enigmatic complex of Koh Ker. Preah Vihear, perched on the crest of the Dângrêk Mountains and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers breathtaking cliff‑top panoramas and exquisitely preserved Angkorian stonework. Koh Ker, a former 10th‑century royal capital, rewards the intrepid with remote, atmospheric ruins and monumental architecture rarely seen by the average visitor. En route we will pause at the former residence of Ta Mok, a notorious Khmer Rouge commander. This solemn stop illuminates the region’s recent wonders-Together, these visits form a powerful itinerary—contrasting the grandeur of ancient civilization with the sobering lessons of modern history—and are indispensable for any thoughtful traveler seeking a deeper appreciation of Cambodia’s past and present.

What you'll see and do
Preah Vihear Temple
Today you will depart early. Our team will pickup your group at 5:30 AM, so please ask your hotel to prepare breakfast boxes for pick‑up. We will pause in the small town of Anlong Veng for breakfast, Anlong Veng is historically significant as the final stronghold and de facto capital of the Khmer Rouge until 1998, and it is the place where Pol Pot died. The town contains several sites of historical interest, including the former residence of Ta Mok, which many visitors include on their itinerary. After Anlong Veng we continue to the spectacular Hindu temple of Preah Vihear, perched on the crest of the Dângrêk Mountain range near the Thai border. Preah Vihear dates from the Angkorian period (9th–12th centuries) and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; from the temple terraces you have sweeping views across the plain and can even see across the border into Thailand. We will spend approximately two hours exploring the temple complex, its intricate carvings, and the dramatic cliffside vistas.

1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.
How much does 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration cost?
+
Prices start at $220 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration take?
+

Is 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (0/5 across 0 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration?
+

Is 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 1-Day Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temple Tour | Cambodia Exploration start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?
+
On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Siem Reap?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
