Our own travel guide at our fingertips
We really enjoyed having our own travel guide at our fingertips. We started the tour one day and ended up finishing it another day. This flexibility was so great and we really enjoyed the experience. All the information was relevant and gave us a great insight into how Yorktown was in the colonial period. Definitely recommend this audio tour! Five stars. Thank you!

This tour might’ve been...
This tour might’ve been one of my favorite experiences in Virginia. The app was a little hard to get used to it first with the map and the direction portions. But once you got used to it, it was very user-friendly. The narrator was very good and easy to understand. And just touring all the battlefields was so awesome. Definitely got to see some places that I never thought I would. Loved the option of leaving the car or staying in if you wanted to. Highly recommend.
Response from the operator: Melissa, thank you for taking my Yorktown Battlefield GPS driving audio tour. I’m so glad it became one of your favorite Virginia experiences, and that the narration, flexibility, and option to explore in or out of the car made the battlefields even more memorable. I appreciate your note about the map taking a little time to get used to. If you’re interested in more adventures, check out my Shenandoah, Colonial Williamsburg, and Ghosts of Fredericksburg Tour. Happy exploring!

Easy, informative, worth it especially when it's too cold to roam the vast area!
Loved the audio for our driving tour. So easy to navigate. Informative. Brought history to life!
Response from the operator: Rita, I’m really glad to hear that my Yorktown Battlefield GPS Driving Audio Tour was easy to navigate and helped bring the history to life. It’s great that it made exploring more comfortable, especially in colder weather. If you’re interested in more historical adventures, check out my Historic Battlefields Self-Guided Driving Tour Bundle, which includes Shiloh, Antietam, and Gettysburg Battlefields. Happy exploring!

Disappointed
Do not go during government shutdown! All the roads were closed for this tour. Very disappointed! They should have said something when I purchased.
Response from the operator: Lisa, I’m sorry to hear about your experience — government shutdowns can definitely affect access to the sites. I always recommend checking the official website before your trip for any closure updates to avoid surprises like this. My Yorktown Battlefield Audio Tour is valid for a full year after purchase, so you’re welcome to revisit anytime once the roads reopen. I’d love for you to experience the full tour as intended. If you’d like a refund or a replacement, I’m available 9–6 EST and happy to help!

Nice tour
It was very informative. However due to Yorktown not posting on its app or website that the visitor center was closed that meant the tour roads were closed.
Response from the operator: Sam, I’m glad you found my Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour helpful, though I’m sorry to hear about the unexpected visitor center and road closures. That must have been frustrating. Do you remember when you visited or which areas were blocked? Knowing this would help me pass the details to my team so we can verify and update the tour information. I appreciate you sharing this — your feedback helps us improve the experience for future travelers. If you’re interested in more historical adventures, check out my Historic Battlefields Self-Guided Driving Tour Bundle, which includes Shiloh, Antietam, and Gettysburg Battlefields. Happy exploring!

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Williamsburg.
How much does Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $17 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Williamsburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Williamsburg is not rushed.
Is Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Williamsburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Williamsburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Williamsburg and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Yorktown Battlefield Self-Guided Driving Audio Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Williamsburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Williamsburg?
+
Williamsburg centres on Colonial Williamsburg passes, Jamestown and Yorktown history tours, lantern-lit ghost walks and theme park tickets a few minutes away. On Outty we rank every Williamsburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Historic Guided Tour to Jamestown and Yorktown with Lunch, Magic Happens at The Wagsters Magic Theatre, Williamsburg Ghosts, Witches and Pirates Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Williamsburg?
+
April to June and September to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Williamsburg?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
