DO NOT Book with this company -unsafe !
Stay away from this operator . No safety equipment on when we got bogged in mud . Dangerous situation in the park . The tour started nicely with a good safe drive from Colombo . Transferred to a very very old 4x4 and headed to the park. After about 40 minutes the 4x4 got bogged . Sure that happens , unfortunate but it happens . What happened next was unacceptable . There was no winch rope on board that was in working order . It was metal rope tied together ( see pictures ) . We waded out through the mud after being covered in sprayed mud and water in the vehicle ( see pictures ) . The tyres on the vehicle had next to no tread on them so getting out was near impossible . We stood in the blazing sun for almost an hour , thankfully we encountered no animals !!! We are too old to run from them . Eventually we hitched a ride with another vehicle that we had to pay them to take us from the park back to the town . Lesson learned that cost ( $808 aud ) does not guarantee a good service . Communications before writing this review with the company provided little satisfaction . Viator have given us 10% refund as a token I guess . I am surprised that they support such a company that provide unsafe vehicles . The drive back to Colombo was again satisfactory although we were pretty exhausted and traumatised by this point in the day .

Great Day Trip to Yala!
Phenomenal trip to Yala! Glen was a great driver and got us to the park in plenty of time. We were fortunate enough to see elephants (including a baby elephant!), cheetahs, iguanas, and crocodiles. The safari car itself was comfortable and had big seats and a cover to protect from the sun.

A great day in Yala National Park
It is a long but scenic drive from Columbo to Yala, and our driver made the ride easy and informative. Thanks Vidu! The park ride is an adventure in open topped safari jeeps and can be dusty so bring along water and sunscreen. But the animals were great and though we did not find a leopard on our afternoon safari we saw allll the other things and lots of amazing birdlife. Vidu our driver was super accommodating of our schedule and turned lunch into dinner for us so we could get into the park quicker. Then took us to a great local place for hoppers on the way home, which made for an extra special experience. Definitely recommend this trip if you are wanting to see the wild life of Sri Lanka, and would recommend Vidu as a great driver. anytime you need to go anywhere!

Well organised visit to Yala
Vidu and Gihan both delivered exactly what they offered. Comfortable modern vehicle with a safe driver arriving exactly on time. Yala was 2.5 hours from Bentota but the time was filled with excellent information regarding Sri Lanka and its varied climates. We began our four hour Safari at 7am and it lasted four hours. We saw Elephants, boar, deer, crocodiles, buffalo, eagles and numerous birds. We saw the back of a Leopard but the issue with this was the number of people wanting to see the same thing . The number of other vehicles and their guests made it impossible to see but otherwise it was a great day. We were taken to a local restaurant and given a selection of local dishes and it was very enjoyable. There are many shady operators and this company are not one of those. They offer so much more …

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.
How much does Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo cost?
+
Prices start at $250 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.
Is Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Yala National Park Private Jeep Safari From Colombo & Negombo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Colombo?
+
On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Colombo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Colombo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
