    About this experience

The history we hear of is often dominated by men, and this can also be said for the history of Florence and the influential Medici family. This private walking tour will take you to see some of the most famous monuments in the city, but through the eyes of the inspirational and influential women often overlooked. As you make your way through these winding renaissance streets, you'll learn about the strategic marriages the Medici made with the royal families of Europe to secure their power. Hear of the women who came to Florence as brides, and see Palazzo Vecchio - where they lived. Learn how the decline of the Duchy of Tuscany is often blamed on the regency of two Medici women, and other untold stories. Listen to the forgotten stories of women, both real and fictional, who played a part in influencing some of the most famous artists of all time. These sculptures and works of art capture different aspects of femininity your expert guide will help you understand.

Wonderful unique tour of Florence through the lens of the women who helped shape its history.

The Florence women's history and Medici family Chapel tour was incredible! Our guide Emanuela was warm and friendly. She had wonderful stories relating to the women who helped shape Florence's history. She also had a wealth of knowledge relating to the Medici family. The three hours flew by. Her insightful tour has inspired me to want to learn even more about Florence's history from this lens. I would highly recommend Emanuela to anyone wanting a tour that delves deeper than just basic facts. She truly is a fabulous guide !

    Fascinating stories of women’s history

Sylvia was so knowledgeable and made the complicated Medici history so accessible. We spent a delightful afternoon walking all over Florence hearing stories of women’s lives, palace intrigue, and unexpected power brokers. So fun. Plus a stop along the way for amazing gelato!

Great tour with unique info and context to Florentine History

My wife and I took the Women of Florence tour today and really enjoyed it. Our tour guide Emanuela was very knowledgeable and funny. She shared a lot of information as we walked through the old town and made our way slowly to the Medici chapel. I you are a fan of Michelangelo you HAVE to visit it. Overall a 5/5 great tour I would highly recommend.

How far in advance should I book Women of Florence Walking Tour with City Highlights and Medici Chapel?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Florence?

    +

On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Florence?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
