Wildlife on the Bow | Big Canoe Tour in Banff National Park

Family Fun!

This was a fun evening activity with our daughters. Will, the guide was informative and funny! We were only on the water for an hour or so and how far you go is very dependent on the other people in the canoe paddling too! We had some nice sightings of beavers and learnt a lot about wildlife and the environment of the Bow River and surrounding Banff area. Unfortunately not much other than beavers on our tour.

Peaceful Journey on the Bow River

We really enjoyed our evening wildlife group canoe trip on the Bow River with Tom. He was a great guide, friendly and fun. He told us some good tidbits about the area and history. We didn't get to see bears or elk, but we were able to see a handful of beavers along the banks of the river which was great. We also caught a few birds in flight. It was a peaceful journey. Would definitely recommend bringing and applying mosquito repellent and leaving backpacks/bags in the car as they are not needed for anything and kind of get in the way. But, definitely bring your phone to take photos of the scenery.

Great time on the Bow River.

Our family had a great evening canoeing with Maegan as our guide. She was friendly, knowledgeable and an excellent guide. We saw osprey, mergansers, beaver lodges and the sun setting over the mountains was spectacular. Highly recommend the evening tour, very peaceful and scenic.

Paddlin' Perfect

We ventured out with our guide, Grace, and another family for a nice night on the river. We enjoyed spotting a few ducks and a beaver during our journey. As a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids), this was a great opportunity for our children to be able to experience canoeing. We had beautiful weather with just a quick sprinkle of rain as we departed. The mosquitos were out, so be prepared! My kids went home with a few bites as souvenirs.
