Monkey sanctuary and snorkeling at Akumel

This was a brilliant trip and very well run. We managed to see two turtles when snorkeling and the monkey sanctuary was just brilliant. I would highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing Tulum Adventure! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a 'brilliant' experience with us. Spotting sea turtles in their natural habitat at Akumal is always a magical moment, and we’re so glad you were able to see two of them! It’s also wonderful to know that the visit to the monkey sanctuary was a highlight for you. We take great pride in our 'Wildlife Learning Adventures' and in ensuring every tour is well-run and seamless for our guests. Your high recommendation means the world to our team. We hope to welcome you back soon for another 'unforgettable wildlife connection' in the Riviera Maya!

I wish they would’ve...

I wish they would’ve called us to tell us that we couldn’t swim with the turtles. We drove nearly 2 hours for that experience but I’m grateful we did receive a refund.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we truly appreciate your understanding regarding the refund. We’re very sorry that you were unable to enjoy the turtle-snorkeling experience at Akumal Bay. On the day of your tour, the weather conditions were unusually windy, and for safety reasons the federal maritime authorities temporarily closed all ports, including the swimming areas in Akumal. These closures are not common, but when they happen, they are strictly for the protection of our visitors, guides, and the marine environment. We completely understand the disappointment, especially after a long drive. As soon as the closure was confirmed, our team offered an alternative snorkeling experience at Yal-ku Lagoon, one of the most beautiful and peaceful natural inlets in the Riviera Maya. Unfortunately, we respect that this option did not meet what you were looking for that day. We always aim to notify our guests as quickly as possible, but in cases where authorities close the bay with little or no advance warning, we sometimes receive the final confirmation only when the team is already onsite. We truly appreciate your patience and are glad we were able to process your refund promptly. We hope to welcome you back in the future under better weather conditions so you can enjoy the complete experience.

That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book Wildlife Learning Adventure and Snorkeling in Akumal?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
