Awesome Afternoon with Whales
Being next to 3 humpback whales for almost an hour was an incredible and memorable experience. Miguel was an awesome guide - friendly and funny, knowledgeable and helpful. Note that when we went, it was a slow time of year for whales; Miguel knew where they were!
Response from the operator: Awesome to hear!!! Thanks so much for letting us be part of your memories!

What a Hassle
I booked the tour several weeks prior based on the website. description. I did not receive what I paid for. The link on my ticket for the dock location sent me to the wrong location, so I missed my 8am tour. I sent several chats to the vendor that morning but never received a response. I had to take a water taxi clear across the harbor to get to the correct dock. I was able to get on an 11am tour. However, it was a much smaller boat than pictured with no hydrophones. We did see whales. I booked this tour through Best Cabo Tours, and the night before the tour I received communication that my provider would be Bluefish tours. When I first started looking for them ar 7:30am at what turned out to be the correct dock ar the correct time, the people at the docks has no idea who I was looking for. And the directions link on my ticket kept sending me all the way around the harbor, so those were the directions I followed. To the completely wrong place. Once at the correct dock, I received excellent help from Miguel. He was most understanding and also lots of fun. The boat was the Blessing, with Capitan Israel and Lydia, both very nice. Whales were seen, and it was a beautiful trip, but not worth the consistent hassle of wrong location, different boat, and no hydrophones. I deserve a full refund via my method of payment plus water taxi reimbursement.
Response from the operator: Hi Nancy, we have had that tour, and those directions, for several years without a problem. From what I understand after asking the vendor, you showed up to the correct location early and then asked a street vendor for help. Instead of help you, they did what the street vendors often do, and sent you to the wrong location so that their friend could try and sell you a different tour. I am sorry that happened to you, and may have given a refund out of the kindness of my heart, but you chose to leave this review instead of call the 800 number to get help. You ended up with a private tour, which was a much higher value. That was out of kindness too. You're welcome. I hope the rest of your time in Cabo was street vendor free.

Good trip. Lots of whales. Crew was good and informative.
We were promised a link for pictures from the trip and have not received it. We may have given the wrong email. We were on the 11am tour yesterday. Our email is kwoo99@yahoo.com. Thank you.
Response from the operator: Hi, I am so glad you had a good time. I messaged the vendor but you should also follow up with them directly because I don't know who was your guide to ask. Enjoy the rest of your time in Cabo!

Sylvia’s enthusiasm and...
Sylvia’s enthusiasm and knowledge was enjoyable. The whales were beautiful. I’m ending this as I don’t appreciate your asking for more detail.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. The next time you are in Cabo male sure to let us know and we will get you a free activity. We appreciate you spreading the word!

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cabo San Lucas.
How much does Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales! cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cabo San Lucas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales! take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cabo San Lucas is not rushed.
Is Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cabo San Lucas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales!?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cabo San Lucas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cabo San Lucas and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Whale Watching with Hydrophones! Hear the whales! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cabo San Lucas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas?
+
On Outty we rank every Cabo San Lucas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cabo Desert Off-Road & Beach Horseback Combo and Tequila Tasting, Humpback Whale Watching Tour in Cabo San Lucas, Cabo All-Inclusive Private Beach Club with Open Bar and Buffet. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cabo San Lucas?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
