Best Eco/Nature company in PV: choose EcoTours Villarta!

This experience was EXCELLENT, start to finish! Astrid is *so* incredibly knowledgeable & her enthusiasm is infectious! From the informational orientation video, through to answering group members' particular questions on the tour, we learned so much from her. Rafe was a great captain, and we felt completely safe & looked after throughout. We went at the tail-end of the humpback season & were worried about perhaps not seeing any animals (which, of course, is beyond the company's control)... but Astrid & Rafe used all their knowledge & skill to ensure we observed our fill of 6 (six!) mom/calf pairs, explained the behavior of two "escort" males we saw, piloted around a pod of dolphins, dropped an aquaphone twice to try to get us whale sounds & pointed out other wildlife (rays, fish, a turtle, birds) along the way! The pace was entirely unhurried & you need not worry about getting your money's worth--that's not what this company is about. (And it was really cool of Astrid to explain all the scientific data she was collecting along the way.) Be sure to bring your own clothing (for sun-protection or warmth) and additional snack (granola bar & drink provided) if you want, to ensure you're completely comfortable & ready to fully immerse yourself in a truly memorable & magical experience!

    Great learning experience

Great to learn about their habits before heading out; then to see the mothers, babies and escorts swimming together. A fantastic experience.

    Best tour !

Our family has enjoyed this activity multiple years now. Miguel & Martin provided the best tour yet! It was a magical tour with fantastic whale action, dolphins, fish, and birding! A rare experience. Thank you! We'll be back soon.

Wow is all I can say. We had an amazing time. There is a small group and we enjoyed meeting. The specialist was a vetranarian who studies whales. We say males, females and babies. We saw breaching, and the whales and dalphins playing. We learned things about the whales, ( no teeth).

    Great day of whale watching!!!

Our whale watching tour was great! Our guide, Francisco, was interesting and engaging and our captain, Martin, did a fantastic job taking us around the bay and spotting lots of whales. We got to see moms with calves and a mating group of mostly males, as well as dolphins and some beautiful birds and iguanas.

Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist cost?

    +

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 181 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist?

    +

Around 63 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Whale Watching Adventure with a Marine Biologist start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
