Fun for all levels
It was very exciting. The guides were very knowledgeable and have a lot of rock climbing experience. The made the experience feel fun and safe. My sister and I have very little experience and my brother is an experienced rock climber and it was fun for all levels. The waterfall was beautiful and it was a very unique experience. Highly recommend.

Kulaniapia Falls Rappelling
There are so many amazing falls on Big Island. We wanted to be able to swim in one. We found Kulaniapia Falls, close to Hilo, where we could swim and rappel. This is a private falls so we expected it not to be crazy busy. And that was the case. Two of us rappelled and the rest of us watched. Unfortunately the day was a little chilly, so none of us got to swim. The two that did rappel said it was amazing. They went down a 60 foot water fall first to get the hang of it and then went down the 120 drop. We didn't take advantage of the lunch or the Inn but it all looked quite nice. The folks that run this place are very thorough with their paperwork, so don't be put off by all the waivers and codes. Also, it is a bit of a walk to the swimming part of the falls, so be prepared for that. Definitely, a fun place.

Such a great experience l!
Such a fun and limit-testing experience that let our group know they can do hard things and have fun doing them! Eric and Cora kept us safe and we enjoyed them very much!

A “must do” for a unique adventure
Awesome time and a very unique experience to repel next to the falls! Jason was a great guide and explained everything. One of the top highlights of my trip to the big island.

Great experience!
I did this with my adventurous niece. We were the only ones there, so it was nice to get some personal attention. There are mosquitoes on the first little training hill, so I would wear pants and a long sleeve if I did it again. The guides were very professional and did a great job showing us what to do. I felt it was very safe, they have a guy on each end of the rope, so it’s almost impossible to fall. You might bang into the rocks a little if you don’t sit down in the harness enough. The only thing I didn’t like was that the rest of our family couldn’t come and watch us go down. You have to pay 50$ just to get on the property for a day pass. They would’ve been happy just standing there watching and taking pictures. I’m glad I did it and it was great to spend some time with my niece.

How much does Waterfall Rappelling at Kulaniapia Falls: 120 Foot Drop, 15 Minutes from Hilo cost?
+
Prices start at $279 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Waterfall Rappelling at Kulaniapia Falls: 120 Foot Drop, 15 Minutes from Hilo take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Waterfall Rappelling at Kulaniapia Falls: 120 Foot Drop, 15 Minutes from Hilo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 81 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Waterfall Rappelling at Kulaniapia Falls: 120 Foot Drop, 15 Minutes from Hilo?
+

+

+

Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Waterfall Rappelling at Kulaniapia Falls: 120 Foot Drop, 15 Minutes from Hilo start and how do I get there?

What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
