About this experience
Navigating the street food culture of Kathmandu can be quite an adventure for most and all that is taken care of on this tour ! Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Kathmandu with a lovely evening where you will explore the local Nepali cuisine with me at places most loved by locals. Tingle your taste buds with Nepali flavors at hole in the wall eateries and experience the real taste that locals eat regularly. We will begin our food tour at the old market of Indrachowk, moving on to the Kathmandu Durbar Square area that is ever so rich in culture. One thing to note is that 3 items on the tour will be Indian snacks as they're widely consumed and loved by locals here. After hosting food tours by myself for a while, I have now started working with the young people of the city! Every guide in my tour is well trained, a local of the city and of course a food enthusiast ! It will be either me or one of my team members taking you around for the tour.

Amazing food in Kathmandu
I had such a wonderful time! We had a lot of delicious food while exploring different parts of Kathmandu, which I wouldn't have explored otherwise. The guide, Shazia, told us a lot about Nepali food and culture. Highly recommended ;)

I had the opportunity to visit eateries I would never have discovered in my own. My guide Fahid was provided detailed explanation of foods and it was delicious. Highly recommend

This food tour was amazing! We went places that we never would have found on our own and tried things that would have been outside of our normal ordering. The food was delicious and a good mix of sweet and savory, and perfect spice level. We were so full by the end!! Our guide was very nice and took care of everything.

A super way to explore and dine like the locals in Kathmandu
This was such a great way to explore Kathmandu, learn about some of the history & way of life and also enjoy some of the delicious Nepalese dishes. Fahid was my guide and he was friendly, polite, knowledgeable, helpful and enthusiastic. I got to try places I would have missed if it wasn’t for the local knowledge and also tried dishes that I would not normally. Thanks for your time Fahid!

Delicious!
This is a do-not-miss tour if you love to discover local food and hidden gems. Fahid our guide was terrific! The food we tried was delicious (arrive hungry!) and we would have never found these places without Fahid. This was one of my favorite things we did while in Nepal...highly recommended.

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu cost?
+
Prices start at $32 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Walking Food Tour in Hidden Local Eateries of Kathmandu start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
