Great guide for our family!

Jean was fantastic at identifying interesting animals on our tour and worked well with other guides to help us see the best stuff. He tailored the trip to our need and always checked in to see how we were doing since there were 3 kids under 7 on our night walk. The sloth under the full moon was a highlight of our trip! We also did a day tour in the Cloud Forest and both were fantastic experiences. This is THE GUY you want guiding your tour!

The Adventure of a Nighttime

This was my second night time adventure with Jean. Now I don’t think a trip to MV is complete without this night time exploration. Snakes, sloth, frogs, insects. Jean has the best eyes and positive energy to the evening to make it feel like you’re in full explorer mode. One of the littles on this recent trip was obsessed with frogs, so Jean made sure to find some for him! This is your guide if you want to discover a side of Costa Rica not many get to witness! Incredible! Plus- he’s an amazing photographer so you’ll come away with epic pictures too!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful and detailed review! It was truly a pleasure to guide you on this nighttime adventure and to show you a side of Costa Rica that truly comes alive after dark. I’m very happy to hear that the experience felt immersive and full of explorer spirit. Spotting snakes, sloths, frogs, insects, and especially seeing the excitement of the little ones, his enthusiasm for frogs in particular made the tour very special. Thank you for highlighting the energy, attention to detail, and photography. Capturing these unique moments and creating lasting memories for guests is a big part of what I love to do. I would be delighted to welcome you back for another adventure. Pura vida, and thank you again! 🌿📸🐸

A fantastic guide with wealth of knowledge and a passion for providing great customer experience

We had a fantastic experience with Jean. He provided clear instructions on what to expect for the night tour. He is very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He knew the areas and conditions that gave us the best chance to see wildlife at night. We got to see snakes, sloth, scorpion and many other interesting critters. Without him pointed them out, we would have missed most of them. With Jean it was a very enjoyable and educational experience

Fun Night Tour!

I went out with Jean for a full day birding experience but also booked him for a night tour for my husband and myself. We were hoping to see snakes, frogs, tarantulas - really anything interesting. Once again, Jean was helpful and accommodating, particularly when we were a little delayed. While we were out he was diligent in trying to find wildlife. At night, things are probably even less guaranteed than during the day, but he was connected with the other guides in the area, and had certain spots that he knew to visit to try to see things. Jean was also super knowledgeable about wildlife, the habitat, and the overall area. That contributed to our enjoyment of the tour - we weren't just looking for things, we were learning about them too. I hope to meet up with Jean for another tour in the future, in Costa Rica or elsewhere, and I highly recommend him to others.

Walk Treasures of the Night: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puntarenas.

How much does Walk Treasures of the Night cost?

+

Prices start at $61 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puntarenas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Walk Treasures of the Night take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puntarenas is not rushed.

Is Walk Treasures of the Night worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puntarenas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Walk Treasures of the Night?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Walk Treasures of the Night suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Walk Treasures of the Night?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puntarenas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puntarenas and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Walk Treasures of the Night start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puntarenas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puntarenas?

+

On Outty we rank every Puntarenas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tortuga Island Tour with Costa Cat, 3 Hour ATV Medium Waterfall Tour (Swimmable Pool), Small Group Night Walking Tour in Monteverde. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puntarenas?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puntarenas?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
