1st time at island of Kona of the Hawaiian islands
our tour guide was don, a very hippie type guide , great attitude who scheduled a tour of kona that included the falls, green sand beach aboard pickup trucks that drove through the dunes, best ride ever also thought us about mineral olivene , the market, black sand beach, sightseeing through towns and provided the best tour even dropping us off to get on the last tender for the ship, a little scary, but true to his word he got us back in time Robert

Volcano Adventure Tour April 2023
Volcano Adventure from Kona-April 2023. Chang picked us up in a 12 person van at our condo in Kona. He was very knowledgeable about the vegetation, wildlife, volcanoes and taught us while we drove. We stopped at different lava fields, the southern most bakery in the US for lunch, the black sand beach (sea turtles!), steam vents and the lava tube at the volcano National park, Hilo candy store, and Rainbow falls. Chang drove us back to our condo on the beautiful Saddle Road. Despite some rain, it was an amazing 10 hour day!

Great Tour
The whole tour was a very pleasant experience. Aunty Karen made sure of that. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all the aspects of the tour. She kept it interesting. I wish all the tours would take a lesson from Aunty Karen. Amazing experience

Great tour guide, Not so great company
A highlight of this excursion was the tour guide. She was great and really tried to make the absolute best of our trip. The low point of this excursion was that the company doesn't seem to maintain their vehicles well. Our van broke down and we had to wait 2 hours for another van to come. Then the second van had a battery light on the dashboard illuminated for most of the journey. My husband and I kept waiting for it to break down as well. The tour guide tried to make up for the break down by buying some pastries for everyone at the bakery. She also had her mother stop at the cookie shop for us since we were arrive too late to go ourselves. I contacted the company after asking for a partial refund since we didn't get to do all the places on the itinerary due to the breakdown and they never responded. So as long as your vehicle doesn't break down, this is a great tour!

Around the Hawaii island tour
It was a good trip but the name volcano adventure is a little bit misleading. Trip is long and spending too much time in the car. Tour guide was good and gave a lot of her own stories.

Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona cost?
+
Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Volcano Adventure - Search the Most Recent Active Volcano from Kona start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
