Visit Tarquinia and the Etruscan site on your own and accomplish more.

Tarquinia and the nearby Etruscan burial excavations are interesting and worth a visit if you're in Civitivecchia and not interested in visiting Rome. However, a tourist can accomplish this visit by hiring one of the numerous taxis at the port and doing it without a guide. That's basically what we did, after paying about €100 each for an unguided tour. Our "guide" was not licensed to show us the burial areas, so we did that on our own after she bought our entry tickets. Tarquinia is a beautiful town. We walked it as a group with our guide leading the way. However, she had no commentary about the town or its history. She did take us to the home studios of two artist friends where we could see their works. Both artists seemed unprepared for our visit. The guide just "dropped in," disrupting their work and/or mealtime. Lunch was disorganized; the restaurant wasn't ready for us and the owner appeared harried. We skipped it, finding a nicer restaurant near the museum. Really, we'd have been better off without having purchased this "tour."

    Don’t miss!

The necropolis of Tarquinia was amazing. Download the audio guide. It really helps. Lots of steps down and up but well worth it to learn about the Etruscans. After visiting the tombs, we walked a short distance to the ancient city. Erna our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Having been to Rome and Civitavecchia before, we wanted something different and a time frame to fit our cruise itinerary.

Disappointing Experience Due to Poor Communication

I cannot review the Etruscan underground heritage site itself because the tour never took place. Unfortunately, my experience with MyloveItaly Travel&Experiences was extremely disappointing. The company failed to notify us that the excursion had been cancelled. We arrived at the meeting point and spent approximately 30 minutes searching for the van, assuming that we had missed it or were in the wrong location. After unsuccessfully looking for the tour, I called the company. It took several minutes for someone to answer the phone, and only then was I informed that the excursion had been cancelled. The representative insisted that I had been notified, but I received no phone call, text message, or email informing me of the cancellation. This lack of communication caused unnecessary stress and wasted valuable vacation time. Based on this experience, I would not recommend MyloveItaly Travel&Experiences. Reliable communication is a basic expectation for any tour operator, and the company failed to meet that standard.

    Outstanding tour

We absolutely loved our relaxing day with our guide, Erna. We first stopped at the Etruscan tombs and visited on our own. We then went to the beautiful town of Tarquinia, where Erna showed us the fabulous sites. We had a delicious meal at a small Italian restaurant and then drove back to the cruise port. It was a memorable day.

    MyloveItaly co. aren't trustworthy

Believe the reviews on MyloveItaly tour company. I gave them the benefit of doubt AND they also didn't show up for our tour. One minute before we were to leave everyone received a text saying it was cancelled. It would have been nice, no respectful, to tell us ahead of time so we could have made alternate plans. This was the place I really wanted to see on our trip. Big disappointment

Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lake Bracciano.

How much does Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia cost?

    +

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lake Bracciano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lake Bracciano is not rushed.

Is Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lake Bracciano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Bracciano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Bracciano and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Visit the Etruscan underground Heritage Site of Tarquinia start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lake Bracciano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lake Bracciano?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lake Bracciano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Civitavecchia Shore Excursion: Best of Rome Private Tour, Food Tasty and History Tour in Civitavecchia, VIP Tour of Rome (3/5/8hrs) Colosseum & Vatican Museums. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lake Bracciano?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lake Bracciano?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
