Great tour
My wife and I had an amazing experience. Carlos is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture. We had the best time and will be bringing our daughters back to experience this with him.

Fantastic tour
Another unforgettable day in Mexico 🇲🇽. With our wonderful guide, Carlos, we explored the magnificent Chichén Itzá, cooled off in a beautiful cenote, and wandered through the charming streets of Valladolid. Thank you, Carlos, for making the day so informative, seamless, and memorable.

Chichen Itza + Coba tour
We stayed in Riviera Maya for 5 days for our 20th wedding anniversary and were debating between doing a separate tour to Chichen Itza and a second tour to Coba, but knew we wanted to spend most of our time at our all inclusive resort, so we ultimately ended up choosing the all day Chichen Itza and Coba tour to knock it all out in one day and are so glad we did! Our tour guide, Gerardo Israel was absolutely incredible. He was friendly, upbeat and so knowledgeable about the ancient Mayan civilization and cenotes. The schedule of the tour is right on too - at first we weren’t sure about the early 6:30 am pick up from our resort, but he knew it was necessary to get us to Chichen Itza right when it opened to experience it before the crowds arrived. He took his time explaining the details and significance of each spot, and was happy to answer our questions and take photos for us. We stayed for about a little under two hours and learned so much and never felt rushed. As we were heading back to the parking lot, the line was looooong to get in and there were literally hundreds of tour buses and vans arriving. There is a specific cenote that they usually go to for this tour, but we knew that we wanted to specifically visit Ik Kil cenote, which is about 5 minutes from Chichen Itza. Again, the timing was perfect because there was hardly anyone at the cenote and we mostly had it to ourselves. Once again, as we were leaving, the tour buses and vans started rolling in, so we were grateful for getting such an early start! Gerardo took us to an incredible Mayan restaurant in Valladolid called Paladar de Cura. The food was SO good and authentic, honestly the best food we had on our entire trip. Finally we made our way to the ancient ruins in Coba. We chose to ride bikes through the jungle and stop at the different ruins along the way, but they also have a passenger option where a guy rides a large bike that you can sit in and not have to do any physical work. Once again, Gerardo was incredibly knowledgeable and shared some great information about the ruins and culture. If you can, I would absolutely choose the bike option, such a cool way to experience Coba! All in all, the entire day was perfect and Gerardo was the most incredible guide! The entire day from pick up to drop off was probably around 10.5 - 11 hours so it was a long day but totally worth every moment!

Why this scores 84
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $1 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 69 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour?
+
Around 24 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does VIP Chichen Itza & Coba Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
