Herb and I had Percy all...

Herb and I had Percy all to ourselves, and this food tour ended up being the best thing we did in Vienna. The food and drinks alone would have made it worthwhile. We started at historic Café Eiles with Schnittlauchbrot, apfelstrudel, and a proper Melange. At Rochusmarkt, a wonderfully local and less touristy market, we enjoyed pastries from Ströck, schnitzel from Radatz, and a side-by-side tasting of Grüner Veltliner and Weissburgunder. We continued with leberkäse and a beer at Leberkäs Pepi, then finished at a wurststand with Waldviertel sausages and an Ottakringer beer. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and we felt like we were eating where locals actually eat. What truly made the experience exceptional was Percy. He has a deep knowledge of Viennese history and culture, but he shares it through engaging stories rather than rehearsed facts. As an experienced traveler himself, he also brought thoughtful perspective and personal context to everything we saw and tasted. If you want a memorable day of fantastic Viennese food with a personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging local guide, book this tour with Percy.

Response from the operator: Hi Cathy, Thank you so much for this incredibly kind review! I absolutely loved having you and Herb on the tour and showing you both the city. It is always a joy to share not just the local spots, but the history behind every single dish we tasted. I especially loved how much attention Herb paid to the history and the stories of each element on our route. Having such engaged and curious guests makes guiding so rewarding and makes the experience truly special for me, too! Thank you both again for choosing to spend your day with me and for being such wonderful company. Please send my warmest greetings to Herb! All the best, Percy

    Way more than I expected

Wow! Percy was SO informative, we learned so much that I even took notes!! The history behind the foods and drinks was incredible. We laughed, ate, drank and my 16 year old granddaughter even said it was her Vienna highlight. Everyone, do yourself a favour and give this a try, you won't be disappointed! Thank you again Percy for your time and knowledge.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review! I’m really happy you enjoyed exploring Vienna’s food culture and history during the tour. Talking about food and cooking is something I genuinely love — it’s my passion — and I’m glad that came through when we chatted about how a true Viennese schnitzel is made. Sharing the stories behind Vienna’s traditional dishes and local flavors is always a joy for me. Warm regards, Percy

You get to try some really good local food and drinks, and it wasn’t too much. You will be full, but not stuffed. Definitely recommend, and definitely do it as early in your trip as possible.

Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.

How much does Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $148 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.

Is Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Vienna Food Tour: Bites & Sights Hidden Local Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Vienna?

    +

On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Vienna?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Vienna?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
