Well organized. Only one...
Well organized. Only one time did our tri vary from itinerary and that was to flip flop our 2 days in the Rotorua area to fit their different tour timings. It was not a problem at all.
Response from the operator: Great review and comments. Thank you.

Not much time but lots to cover
Trip was very well organized, not with a group but traveling on your own and well timed details. Excellent directions for the schedule. Only once did we have an issue with the prepaid taxi not showing up.
Response from the operator: You had a busy time - pleased it all (mainly) went well for you.

Got to see lots of the N....
Got to see lots of the N. Island & really liked Bay of Islands area, Russell & Hole in the Rock cruise on 1st day. Could have spent another night in the area. All the independent transportation providers were exactly on time, so we appreciated that. Hotel accomodations were all very nice. Tour representative Janferies was very helpful. We enjoyed all the stops & sights on the tour, but there was a lot of bus or van travel time.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review and your excellent comments which are noted. NZ is a tricky country to navigate and that's why we offer these tour solutions to take the hassle away from you - and yes that comes with a bit of travel. Pleased you enjoyed your experience.

Fantastic, independent tour
This was the perfect trip travelling solo. It was an independent tour put together expertly to incorporate what I wanted to visit. Adjustments to the itinerary at the actual time of travel were conveyed personally by staff involved in my tour but all minor changes ensured that I still got to do everything included on my tour. The schedule was thoughtfully put together so that I didn't end up exhausted from early morning starts and late finishes. There was also personal free time built in. This permitted me to do a couple of local things under my own steam after a great intro to whichever location I was in. Very competently and professionally put together. I just wish that accommodation allowed for travelling solo (ie. Single rooms or smaller doubles at single occupancy rates, especially in low/shoulder season) as it hikes the price up quite a bit. The itinerary print out was excellent, providing precise instructions and timings right down to a Google maps screenshot to assist with locations. Additionally, all reference numbers for every booking, be it accommodation or boat trip or other excursion, bus company, coach, was included with corresponding local phone numbers. Very thorough and reassuring for an older, solo traveller. The accommodation selected was great with friendly staff and central locations. It was also great being part of an excursion on buses that were generally large vans for up to a max of 20 passengers as it made it easy to chat to fellow tourists and also allowed for more personable contact with the drivers/guides.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed review. The time we put into creating personalised itineraries is what makes it unique and special for each guest to New Zealand. We know this is your holiday and we do our best to craft it specifically for your needs. So pleased you had the best time.

Good for solo
It’s nice when everything is booked for you. As a solo traveller it takes the worry out of how to get to places, also very helpful when you message operators they are lovely and fast to reply
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to submit your review which are valuable to us to ensure we meet and where possible exceed our customers expectations. I do hope you do have the opportunity to visit New Zealand again at some future date.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights cost?
+
Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights take?
+
Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ultimate Northern Discovery 5Day/4nights start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
