Unique experience close to the water

Wonderful experience in a small catamaran with a skilled skipper. Warm water flowed over and under us. Very pleasant although our mistake was not wearing bathing suits. Saw the ruins from the water, out near the reef. Other boat opted for snorkeling that was offered. Definitely worth doing for those younger than my husband and me. Highly recommend this sailing trip. Sushi snack at hotel cafe after the sail was delicious.

A perfect evening on the water! Huge thanks to Saul for being such a fantastic guide. He created a very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere from the moment we boarded and shared some fascinating stories about the area. His expertise made us feel completely safe and well-taken care of. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great sailing and snorkeling!

Great experience! Jackie and Nesto were excellent captains and tour guides. We got to see the ruins from the boat, snorkel along the reef, and enjoy a nice snack at the restaurant back at the beach club. They’re super friendly and fun. Very English friendly if you don’t have strong Spanish. Highly recommend!

    Snorkeling No good

"We booked a 1.5-hour snorkeling sailing tour, but the actual time spent snorkeling was very short and we saw hardly anything. Despite being told the sea conditions were ideal, it felt like they were dishonest just to sell the tour."

Response from the operator: Dear Michael Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take all feedback seriously, though we would like to provide some necessary context regarding your experience. First, it is important to note that we offer private tours. The main advantage of a private charter is that the itinerary is flexible. Our captains typically provide a mix of scenic sailing and snorkeling; however, had you informed the crew that you preferred to skip the panoramic views to spend the entire duration in the water, they would have happily accommodated you. Regarding your comments on honesty: we operate strictly under the guidance of the Port Authority (Capitanía de Puerto). We do not gamble with safety or our reputation; if the authorities and our captains declare conditions safe and ideal, we trust their professional judgment. We have no incentive to misrepresent sea conditions. Finally, while we strive to provide the best experience possible, we are ultimately working with Mother Nature. Marine life and visibility are natural variables that are beyond our control. We are sorry that the wildlife didn't "show up" as you expected during your time in the water. We wish you the best in your future travels.

Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tulum.

How much does Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $66 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tulum usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 1.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tulum is not rushed.

Is Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 169 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour?

    +

Around 59 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 1.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tulum: Snorkeling and Private Sailing Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tulum?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Tulum Guided Tour, Magical Cenote, Lagoon Snorkeling and Beachside Lunch, Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch and transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tulum?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tulum?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
