Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque
In the heart of the busy streets of Pettah, rising proudly out of the bustling crowds of Colombo, the red and white structure of the Jami-ul-Alfar Mosque (colloquially known to locals as the Red Mosque) stands as one of the most popular tourist attractions of the city, as well as being one of the oldest mosques in Colombo. Its clock tower and candy-cane-striped minarets, towering over its surroundings, are visible for miles around and were once used as a landmark by sailors approaching Colombo’s ports. Commissioned to be built in the early 1900s by the local Muslim community, who were in need of a central location for their daily prayers, the construction of the mosque was completed and open to devotees by 1909. The mosque was designed by Habibu Labbe Saibu Lebbe, an unknown architect of the time, in the style of Indo-Saracenic buildings. One of its key features are the “pomegranate-shaped domes”, which are said to be different to the traditional onion-shaped domes of mosques.

Colombo afternoon tuk tuk drive
Before you travel to Colombo is worth think of the tuk tuk tour. As Colombo is a vast city it’s impossible to see the basic Sri Lanka’s heritage in one day. I did book this tour and I was glad because a) you do not need to carry a guide and read, you just listen, relax and enjoy, b) the guide brings you to the places you may not think of like gem and tea market, c) if travelling solo, it’s a nice opportunity to talk to local and inquiry more details about the island. My ride was perfect, it’s worth for the price. The driver was excellent.

Amazing was to see the city with a knowledgeable guide
What an amazing experience. Our tuktuk driver Faslan was so polite and courteous..he looked after me well and was so attentive of my mobility limitations..his explanations of the history of Colombo and Sri Lanka were well understood...we were in awe of the temples and their beauty...my husband was a little concerned about a tuktuk ride but Faslan drove well and kept us safe at all times

Excellent way to see majority of Colombo in short and fun time!
I was picked up by a gentleman called Farsan who waited for me outside the hotel on the day patiently. He explained to me where we would go and gave me an itinerary and each place we stopped he was explaining the history of the place and gave me a good background. Farsan was also kind enough to take photos of me at the locations, and did not rush me, and was waiting in the Tuktuk whilst I was exploring the sites. He even made few extra stops for me as I needed to pick up some things and stayed over his duty hours. The whole day was very knowledgable and enjoyable thanks to Farsan who provided an excellent and professional service. I would highly recommend and do it again ! Many thanks for showing me around Colombo!

How long does Tuk Trip Is Very Cheap In Colombo ( All Inclusive) take?
+

Is Tuk Trip Is Very Cheap In Colombo ( All Inclusive) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tuk Trip Is Very Cheap In Colombo ( All Inclusive)?
+

Is Tuk Trip Is Very Cheap In Colombo ( All Inclusive) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tuk Trip Is Very Cheap In Colombo ( All Inclusive)?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Colombo?
+
On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, Private Multi Day Sri Lanka Tour with Chauffeur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Colombo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Colombo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
