What you get

    About this experience

Embark on an enchanting kayak or paddleboard adventure along Fort Lauderdale’s Middle River. Glide through serene Island City canals and wildlife-rich landscapes toward preserved mangrove ecosystems. These vital tropical wetlands feature red, black, and white mangroves — salt-tolerant “walking trees” with prop roots. They protect shorelines from erosion and storms, provide habitat for marine life, store carbon, and filter water. Along the way, watch for iguanas on the banks, herons, egrets, and ibis overhead, leaping tarpon, playful dolphins, and gentle manatees play in warmer waters during manatee season (Nov 15 - Mar 31). Expert guides share eco-insights, offer paddle tips,, take memorable photos, and adjust the pace for fun. Route leads to a tranquil 9.3-acre nature preserve — a hidden gem with mangroves and trails, ideal for stretching your legs and enjoying the beauty. Wildlife sightings vary daily with stunning scenery and connection to Florida’s coastal ecosystem.

    Iguana experience

Jamin the tour guide was very nice to call to let me know about the windy conditions and gave me the option between kayak and paddling boarding. Also, he is very knowledgeable about the ecosystem.

    Recommend for local and visiting

Great experience! January is a wonderful guide. I’m local so I’ll likely be back. The price is a little high. $198 for adult and child in a tandem kayak. I bought through TripAdvisor yet wont book anything through them again. Book directly with Sunrise Paddleboards.

Response from the operator: We're happy you had a wonderful experience with January! Next time you are ready to rebook, give us a call at the store and we can tell you about our membership.

    Mothers Day on the water

I was originally booked for the 7 mile tour but due to windy conditions & it being my first time paddleboarding, the company asked me if I would like to instead kayak by myself for a bit, have a SUP lesson and then join the eco tour. Danni was my guide, along with her trusty pup Benny. They taught me the ropes & then we were off to explore the surrounding waterways and the mangroves. We saw local animals and even got up close to a manatee! Danni made me feel very special, she was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating to the group. She and Benny made my Mother’s Day one of the most memorable! I will go back over and over!

Response from the operator: Awesome, that was the outcome we wanted for your first time. The whole team discussed you first time booking and so glad we made the right choices!

    Tour guide Daniela

I can’t say enough good things about our experience, especially our guide, Daniela! This was one of the main things we wanted to do during our stay, and it truly exceeded our expectations. Daniela seemed just as excited to show us around as we were to experience everything. You could genuinely tell she loves what she does and truly cares about the canals, mangroves, and all the wildlife that calls them home. Her energy, knowledge, and passion made the whole experience even more special. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting!

Response from the operator: Exceeded expectations. So exccited to read your review. Thank you for sharing!

    Fun kayaking adventure

I had a wonderful time as a solo kayaker on this two-hour excursion. There is the option to do a paddleboard or kayak. Sarah was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who was kind enough to share photos and videos with us that she took during our tour.

Response from the operator: Wonderful review. Thank you for sharing!

Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fort Lauderdale.

How much does Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fort Lauderdale usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fort Lauderdale is not rushed.

Is Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 44 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Fort Lauderdale, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fort Lauderdale can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fort Lauderdale and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tropical Mangrove Wildlife Guided ECO Kayak & SUP Board Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fort Lauderdale within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Fort Lauderdale?

    +

Fort Lauderdale sells canal and Millionaire's Row boat cruises, Everglades airboat trips, snorkel and dive charters on the reef, and Miami and Key West day trips. Boat size and reef conditions drive the quality of the water tours. On Outty we rank every Fort Lauderdale experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 1-Hour Interactive Pirate Cruise (arrive 30 minutes early), Fort Lauderdale Segway Tour, Half-day Everglades National Park Tour and 1-Hour Air Boat Ride. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Fort Lauderdale?

    +

November to April, with warm water year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Fort Lauderdale?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
