    Reichenbach Falls Visit 2023

Our driver's name was Fredy and he was terrific. He picked us up at the Hotel Schwerhof in Zurich and drove us to Meiringen - roughly 90 minutes away - because my husband wanted to visit Reichenbach Falls. Fredy scouted the route and the falls the weekend before our trip - talk about being prepared! His efforts allowed him to advise us on the trail, overlooks for family photos, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Aare Gorge, and a terrific tea shop with delicious meringue. Fredy kept the conversation going by educating us on the history of Switzerland and its geography. He was a patient, skilled and very careful driver. We would highly recommend Fredy and the trip.

    Lovely but expensive.

Loved the personal service and fitting times to suit our needs. However the service was seriously overpriced.

Response from the operator: Dear Mrs. Rogers, thanks so much for your review. Please be aware that we are in Switzerland and you cannot compared with the rest of Europe. Sorry for that, is not in my hands to change the situation. Please don't forget also, you was drove in a limousine with a professional Driver/guide and the price include fully insurance, taxes and road fees. Thanks again and best regards Thomas

    Father/Daughter trip to Europe

Our first day in Zurich was spent with Thomas and was our favorite adventure! He has a wealth of knowledge, knows the area, and has connections to take us places we never would have known about otherwise. When we come back, he will be the one we call!

You won't find a better guide anywhere

Thomas Boer is by far the best guide we have ever used. That is saying a lot because we are experienced world travelers. We have visited over 70 countries and have used many fine guides. Thomas is the best of the best. He is extremely well-educated, knowledgeable, and fluent in English (plus many other languages), and he goes above and beyond, providing the highest level of client service we have ever experienced. In addition, he has a great sense of humor. We spent three wonderful weeks with Thomas in Germany and Switzerland. Thomas went out of his way to research some off-the-beaten-path sights we wanted to see, including famous German and Swiss universities where renowned philosophers taught. He brought printouts with his research results to use as part of his guiding. Thomas also added many excursions that our American travel company did not have on the itinerary, including side trips to quaint Kolmar and to Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament, both located across the border in France. Along the way, Thomas took it upon himself to make sure we were supplied with soft drinks and chocolates, even dropping them by our hotel. As an example of his extraordinary personal service, we were quite surprised on a scenic Snowball Express train ride to look out the window at an interim train stop and see Thomas waiting on the platform to give us sodas! We can't say enough good things about Thomas. You won't find a better guide anywhere.

Thomas is THE PERSON to Contract as a Zurich PrivateTour Guide!

I designed our ten-day Austria family vacation - which included my husband and our adult daughter - with a short, one-day turn-around visit to Zurich and contracted Thomas for the time we were picked-up at the airport in the morning to the point of drop-off into the evening. Not only was Thomas well-informed as he brought us to various points of interest, he was also patient with our questions and seemingly endless picture-taking, which he also gladly took some of us and even WITH us! I APPRECIATED that he was the type of private tour guide who went at OUR PACE based on whenever we found something particularly interesting, we stayed longer, whereas if something was marginally of interest to us, we talked about it briefly and then moved on. Thomas was also flexible to the degree that he was amenable to joining us for lunch that I pre-arranged with two friends who live in Zurich! There was a SPECIAL SERVICE that Thomas extended to us based on my request. Specifically, as a result of our extremely limited time in Zurich, I asked him to please pick up some snack items - both independent flavor profiles of savory and sweet - that are indigenous to and popular iin Zurich and to have them readily available in the vehicle when he picked us up at the airport. (Of course, I reimbursed him.) He had SUMPTUOUS choices for us, and they certainly enriched our tour day withi him! Thomas was professional AND personable, and we enjoyed the SUPERB customer service that he provided as our private tour guide AND as someone who is THE PERFECT "Ambassador" for Zurich, for his civic pride was evident! I am aware that he is also well-versed in knowledge of other international (non-U.S.) travel destinations such as Spain, Greece and others. Whenever Covid and the variants are under control and international travel can resume in a healthy way, I will check with Thomas to see if our travel destination is a part of his repertoire, for I would welcome the opportunity for him to be our private tour guide again!!!

Response from the operator: Hello Marisa, finaly I have see your post today. Thanks so much for this nice review. Hope to recieve you soon again! Best and warmest Regards! Thomas

Travel with Swissness: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zurich.

How much does Travel with Swissness cost?

    +

Prices start at $1380 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zurich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Travel with Swissness take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zurich is not rushed.

Is Travel with Swissness worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Zurich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Travel with Swissness?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Travel with Swissness suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Travel with Swissness?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zurich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zurich and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Travel with Swissness start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zurich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Zurich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Zurich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Zurich Food Tour with 10 Local Delicacies, Cheeses & Chocolates, Private, excellent guided tour of Zurich (from CHF 21/pers.), Zürich Historic District Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zurich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zurich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
