    Fascinating Romania

This tour far exceeded our expectations - for two reasons: Romania turns to be fascinating, and Gabriel is the best guide we have ever met. Gabriel is very knowledgeable about Romania, its history, culture and language, and very keen to share that knowledge (which he does in good English). I don't think that we asked a question that he could not answer! He was flexible - we made several changes to the proposed programme, one at our request, and others at his suggestion. Gabriel is passionate about his country, and keen to ensure that his guests appreciate it too. And Romania is wonderful. There is so much to see and to learn about. The tour includes the main attractions in Transylvania and the painted monasteries in Bucovina. Going that far north means a long drive back to Bucharest on the last day, but the monasteries are well worth it. When we booked this tour, we knew very little about Romania, but we had heard about the Bucovina painted monasteries and chose this tour because it included them. In fact, it would have been better to contact Unzip Romania directly, tell them what we were interested in, and get their advice on what we should see. That way, by adding a couple of extra days, we could also have visited the wooden churches in Maramures. And Gabriel insists that one should also visit the Danube Delta. Oh well - next time!

    The Real Transylvania 🇷🇴

When I started planning our trip , I was still debating if I will explore these country on our own which we usually do when we visit Europe. After doing some research I decided to purchase a 4 day private tour of Transylvania thru Viator . Since it was a reasonable price , I figure I can at least spare myself from driving . Best decision I ever made because when I found the company they were using , I also directly booked a day tour of Bucharest. When we got to Bucharest, during our day tour with Claudiu, upon our request they were able to accommodate us to extend our Transylvania tour and booked us 3 more days to visit the painted monasteries of Bucovina. We are also grateful to have Gabriel us our guide . He was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide . We are avid travelers and we are always grateful for the hard word that our tour guides put in to make a our trip a pleasant one . But Gabriel went above and beyond , and for that we are forever grateful . He really represented these beautiful country of Romania. He has the “HEART “ and Love for his country and was so proud to share it with us . It is such Beautiful country with so much history and culture, but it’s always the HUMAN experience that you cherish forever. I am so proud to say that we now have a FRIEND in Romania 🇷🇴. These county should be in anyone’s BUCKET list and I am very confident that UnzipRomania Travel will be a excellent choice if you decide to visit these AMAZING country . TRIASCA ROMANIA!!!

Wonderful Tour to Transylvania & Bucovina

If you have a week in Romania, definitely take this tour. Highly recommended! Transylvania is enchanting, but Bucovina is just as fascinating with beautiful UNESCO historical painted monasteries as well as magnificent gorge enroute. We had the best guide, Gabriel. Consider you are lucky if you have him as your guide. We were already in Bucharest before the tour so Gabriel picked us up from our hotel. As we were checking out the hotel, even a hotel staff told us that Gabriel is the best tour guide in Romania. One good thing about private tour is you can modify and adjust the tour to your interest and time. Diana was easy to work with to modify our tour. Bear in mind that day time is shorter in November so fewer sites could be covered in a day. However, Gabriel was very flexible and enthusiastic to offer us to see more sites than planned if we were interested by not taking a lunch stop. We could just buy sandwich and ate in the car to save the time if we wish. We did that on the first day so that we could also visit Sinia Monastery in addition to the castles, and also on the last day because we wanted to arrive early back to Bucharest for attending a concert. Gabriel's passion and impressive knowledge in Romania history showed in his explanation to all the sites we went and along the journey. We learned so much and enjoyed the tour from the beginning to the end. it was definitely one of the best guided tours we ever had. Gabriel was very caring and took care the details. One day we arrived at a painted monastery at dusk but he offered to change our itinerary a little so that he could bring us back to visit again to see the monastery in day light. That's how professional he is. We had a great time, thanks to Gabriel, for making Romania trip such a memorable one. For lodging, we especially like the DoubleTree in Sighisoara. We had a gorgeous night view of the Citadel and within a 5 minutes walk. Ramada in Sibiu was also very nice, with a view of the old town and short walking distance and very good spread of breakfast buffet. You won't regret to book a tour with UnzipRomania. They are passionate to give the best experience in visiting Romania. Although we didn't take a Bucharest tour, Diana offered to help booking restaurant for us. We got the best table in the house. She also sent us Bucharest tour site information so that we could go on our own. Wish we could have more time in Romania.

Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days cost?

    +

Prices start at $2200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days take?

    +

Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Transylvania & Bucovina Private Tour - 6 days start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
