    Amazing hike and transfer

We went on a self guided walk of Vereda do Larano with Levadas In and Out, and we thought the experience was excellent. We were given plenty of information before the hike. Fabio gave up pick up information and collected us on time. He was very kind and knowledgeable. We had plenty of time to do the walk and were able to access someone if we had any questions. I would definitely recommend this company and we liked they did some hiking transfers to levadas and walks that others don't offer!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. We are glad that you had a great day. Thank you for reviewing Fabio

Great hike off the beaten track

A great hike of just under 8 miles. Some amazing scenery from extremely steep and unguarded cliff tops. Be warned, this hike isn't for you if you don't like heights! Our guide, Flávio, was excellent and gave us a good briefing on what to expect. He also gave lots of background info on Madeira and sent links to help us navigate. My only concern was not having a physical map to refer to. I think this would be a useful addition as an extra precaution. My mobile battery was very low towards the end after using the Alltrails app and a physical map would have provided reassurance. An all round good experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. We are glad that you had a great day. Thank you for reviewing Flavio

    Beautiful hike and great transfer

Fabio was a great driver and guide that gave very clear instructions (in advance and at the starting point) and was always reachable by phone in case of problems. The hike was beautiful and peaceful and easy to follow. Definitely a hidden gem on the island. Would recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking your time to review us and Fabio. We are glad to read that everything worked out well. Thank you

Amazing service, smooth from start to finish!

Booking We had a really great experience with Levadas In and Out for our transfer to Vereda do Larano. Everything was smooth from start to finish, with all details we would need the day before, which made it completely stress free and the whole process very easy for us. Transfer Our transfer driver Fábio was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable, and a great driver. I usually can feel car sick on windy roads, but the drive was very smooth and relaxing! Fábio really added to our experience with great insights and a welcoming attitude. Before setting off, Fábio provided loads of helpful information such as weather updates, route directions and options, and important tips for the walk, which we really appreciated. It was also great they gave us two different options for where we could be picked up, so we could head to the beach cafe as we had a bit of time to spare! The biggest advantage was definitely the convenience of being dropped off at one end and picked up at the other. It saved us the hassle of trying to organise parking or doubling back, which would have been difficult. Hike The hike was beautiful, and great that you get to experience forest levadas and also coastal views! We were worried the walk was very exposed, however it was absolutely fine. The paths are wide and there’s railings on any dangerous parts. The walk was also far less crowded than some of the PR trails and it was lovely having the path to ourselves for most of it. Definitely a hidden gem of a trail! Recommendation Overall, now that we have done the transfer, there is no way I would drive after seeing the chaos of the car parks there with people walking an extra hike just to get from their car to the beginning of the trail! Far easier and less stressful being dropped right at the start. We’d absolutely recommend booking direct with Levada’s In and Out to anyone planning to do a hike in Madeira. We would definitely book with them again when we hopefully return to Madeira again!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. We are glad to see that you had a great day with Fabio (he will be happy to read this). Thank you once again and we hope to see you again

Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike cost?

    +

Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike take?

    +

Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Transfer to Explore Vereda do Larano - Self Guided Hike start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
