Book this hike!
I would HIGHLY recommend booking this hike with Paulo. He is a fantastic guide and takes you on secret trails away from any crowds. On this hike you will come across so many stunning waterfalls and lagoons, and each one is more breath taking than the last. Paulo is knowledgeable on the history of the island as well as the flora and fauna you will come across and hiking with him is a lot of fun!

Hire Paulo and avoid a horrible time in mass crowds!
Amazing Experience with Paulo. If you plan to hike in Madiera, you should do more than one day with Paulo. He will take you to the best areas with the least crowds. He is a native with a treasure trove of knowledge. Do you want to be with 100s if not 1000s of hikers??? Hire Paulo and avoid that and have an incredible experience.

Chasing Levada’s and waterfalls
We had such an amazing time with Paulo! He took us on an adventure off trail to see amazing view points and secluded waterfalls. We felt so safe and comfortable with Paulo as our guide. Would recommend Paulo and this trail to anyone! He even takes great photos!

An Adventure in Madeira
We had a fabulous adventure trekking along the levada trail with Paulo who is great company to be with. His knowledge, passion and enthusiasm brings alive the trail, the forest, amazing valleys and waterfalls. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, thank you Paulo.

The best tour guide ever!
The most unforgettable day of our trip to Madeira! We spent a full-day guided by Paulo, and it turned out to be the highlight of our entire stay on the island. Paulo led us through breathtaking trails, hidden waterfalls, and secret lagoons where no tourists go. We explored several levadas, climbed up and down mountains, even descended on ropes with Paulo ensuring our safety. His deep knowledge of Madeira’s flora, fauna, birds, and hidden natural wonders was beyond impressive. Listening to him speak about the island’s plants and wildlife felt like a masterclass in nature. He truly knows Madeira like the back of his hand. We hiked 17 kilometers that day, and every step was filled with awe, joy, and connection to nature. It wasn’t just a hike — it was a magical experience we will never forget. I wholeheartedly recommend Paulo as a guide. If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure with someone who truly loves and understands this island, Paulo is the one. A guaranteed unforgettable experience!

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private) cost?
+
Prices start at $101 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private) take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private)?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Twenty-Five Fountains Levada walks (private) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
