About this experience
The most authentic flavors of a city are often found in its local markets. Join Cookinn Taiwan as we explore the traditional markets of Wanhua, one of Taipei’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods, where heritage architecture, fresh seasonal produce, and warm local connections come together. This is not a polished tourist attraction—it is a real working market filled with the sounds, colors and aromas of everyday Taipei. Together, we will wander through the market lanes, learn about Taiwanese ingredients, and meet some of the vendors who bring the market to life. Along the way, we will shop for fresh ingredients and sample a selection of local treats loved by the neighborhood. With our market baskets filled, we will return to a welcoming kitchen nearby, put on our aprons and transform our ingredients into a delicious Taiwanese meal. As we cook, you will discover the techniques, flavors and stories that have shaped generations of Taiwanese home cooking.

Amazing Taiwanese Gourment Cooking Class
What an amazing class, hands on, very informative and super fun. Our instructor was great with explaining ingredients and providing additional context around certain dishes. The cooking school was also able to accommodate all dietary restrictions. I would definitely recommend the Taiwanese Gourment Cooking Class to all foodies.

Such a great and memorable family experience in Taiwan!
This is our second class with Cookinn. We took the Taiwanese Street Food class before, and we had so much fun that we signed up for the Taiwanese Gourmet Meal on our most recent trip to Taiwan. Again, it was such a fun experience for our family to do together. Our teacher, Diana, was completely fluent in both Mandarin and English, and she not only shared cooking instructions but also the cultural history of Taiwan and the food that we were preparing also. Very clean and modern facilities, and the little attention to detail (like the peronalized photo recipes at the end) were wonderful. Our kids ranged from 8 to 15 years old, and they all loved it! And the best part is we were all able to share our "made from scratch" meal together at the end.

Great tips even for the home chef!
I cook regularly at home and I found this course to be very good for both the home chef and casual cooks. The teacher Diana was very clear and spoke both Chinese and English. The kitchen was clean and spacious and all the ingredients were described before we started. Even for the dishes that I thought I knew how to make I learned many tips that made the flavors uniquely Taiwanese!

Great
Instructor speaks good English, there is no communication problem. Lesson is easy to follow. Will consider coming back for another lesson when in Taipei.

Streamlined processes making learning so easy
I visited Taipei for two weeks and prior to visiting, I signed up for two classes here. One was run in the morning with a market tour and the other in the afternoon. The market tour was fun. If you have not been to an Asian traditional market, I think it would be a good experience. Here you see the full animals (if you don't like to see animal heads and organs than this may not be your thing -- talk to the instructors beforehand, I am sure they will accommodate you). The whole area is very spacious. There is a place for the students to relax before the class starts. This is also the place to enjoy your labor after you cook. Here you can also socialize with other students or if you have kids with you, they can kill their time here while you are learning to cook. The class was designed immaculately! They really worked out all the kinks and thought of everything before the class was run. Here you find a systematic way of learning and you don't feel like you are just ordered to do various things. The process is very streamlined and smooth. Every step just naturally transitions into the next step. Here you learn cooking is actually a very relaxing process -- as long as you know the steps -- and what they show you exactly are the steps and the little clues to watch when you cook in order to make sure the flavor builds and the food tastes good. The staff was wonderful -- every single one of them. The instructors were very knowledgeable about the food, the tour guide knew which alley to turn to show you where the hidden food gems are and the assistants are the unsung hero -- while we were cooking, they were there chopping away and washing things away so that the next food ingredient can be delivered to us for cooking. When the class ends, I was handed an individualized recipe book -- how cool was that! All the pictures taken in the class were also emailed to us after the class. If you are into Taiwanese food, this truly is a place where you can have fun, learn good cooking skills and develop the food that you crave.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.
How much does Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei cost?
+
Prices start at $93 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.
Is Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Traditional Market Cooking Class in Taipei start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Taipei?
+
On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Taipei?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Taipei?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
