    Whale watching

We did the 3 hour trip yesterday (Saturday 29th August 2027. Arrived at 9.45am for a 10.00 am start time. Staff were lovely, great information from them about the whales and the areas. Lunch was rice and chicken, there was also a vegetarian rice option. A nice relaxed boat trip. There is a stop so you can swim in the sea. Bring your own snorkel as they aren’t provided if you like snorkelling. A great trip and well worth it.

Relaxed family boat trip & amazing whale watching

A great boat trip for families. We booked the 10am trip, which I’d definitely recommend with children as you avoid the worst of the midday heat. We were lucky enough to see pilot whales, which at first looked like dolphins to us! The guide was really knowledgeable and explained how to identify them from their fins and movements. Everyone stayed quiet while watching them, which made it feel really calm and respectful. The swimming stop in the bay was lovely and a real highlight. Food was okay and what we expected from a boat trip, although the chicken nuggets were a little dry for our 4-year-old so he didn’t eat much but it certainly didn’t take away from the experience. Overall, a really relaxed, calm and enjoyable trip. Being able to say that about a boat trip with kids is definitely a winner in our eyes!

    AVOID!

Quite conflicted about this one. We were in Tenerife last week for a family holiday and booked the Maxicat whale and dolphin watching tour for a day out trip. We paid extra for the pickup and drop off option. All went well with pickup, but things just seemed to get progressively worse when we got to our departure point. Firstly, we waited for what seemed like an eternity for the catamarans to arrive and for us to board. In that time, there was little or no communication from tour operators. When we eventually boarded, the boats were overcrowded, and seating was just haphazard and uncomfortable. Onboard entertainment, food and drinks weren’t great. The staff did do a good job pointing out the whale pods, we didn’t see any dolphins unfortunately. A fight broke out at some point between two families, not sure what it was all about, because at this point I just wanted to get off the boat to be honest. It’s quite a bumpy ride so if you’re prone to being seasick, best to avoid. Oh, and don’t bother allowing the photo guy on board take a photo of you, they are poor quality and a total waste of money. We got back in one piece, thank God, and headed to our coach. The drama didn’t end there because for whatever reason, the driver on the return leg did not call out our stop! We were not the only ones affected. One of the ladies involved in the earlier fight on the boat was now also in the same boat as us - pun intended. The driver insisted that it was our fault and she wasn’t going to turn the bus around. Long story short, we were left in the ‘middle of nowhere’ to fend for ourselves. My wife and kids were so upset by this. We then had to get a £32 uber ride back to our hotel. Definitely the lowest point of our otherwise fun filled Tenerife holiday.

    Avoid

We booked 3 hour boat trip. The best part was seeing whales. Not enough seating areas for everyone on boat, it was overcrowded. Food was bland (chicken paella with no chicken), veg option was boiled rice and steamed vegetables. Dry bread rolls. Horrible undercooked peanut cookies. Drinks given in tiny cups so had to keep going up. No life jackets or snorkelling equipment. Staff on entry were rude, photo staff tried to charge us more saying we were 2 families and couldn’t get the deal when we weren’t and were on one booking. Just a money making scheme. Avoid booking and use a smaller company/family based company.

Good trip but not 3 hours as advertised

We had a great time on the trip however didn’t feel like value for money as didn’t leave the harbour until 1345 and returned at 1600 so only got just over 2 hours in what was advertised as a 4 hour boat trip. Collection and drop off was great but waiting a long time for the boat to come back from the earlier trip meant we were delayed, I understand there are delays but this should have been added on to the end. The trip itself was great, stopping off for a swim and then going out to sea and seeing the whales, would have been 4/5 if not for the shortness of the trip

Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.

How much does Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.

Is Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 200 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included?

    +

Around 70 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tour with Whale and Dolphin Watching plus food included start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tenerife?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tenerife?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tenerife?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
