Great destinations, OK Guide, Affordable and Convenient
This tour is a great choise to see some of the sights around Oaxaca of you're short on time or don't have transportation. The destinations were very enjoyable. The entrance tickets were pair for, just had to pay for the Oaxacan buffet for lunch. The tour guide had to repeat the information in Spanish and English, which was impressive, but he seemed quite rushed and often did not translate some of the information spoken in one language. But of your focus it transport to these places to experience them, it's a great affordable option.
Response from the operator: Hello, we appreciate your valuable comment. Unfortunately, since it is a shared tour, it is conducted in Spanish and English, which sometimes makes you feel that it is rushed. If anyone is interested in a pure tour in English, we have private services which adjust to your interest and time.

Wonderful experience to Hierve el Agua
The tour was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and constantly translated between Spanish & English. Making it very enjoyable for both speaking parties. Our tour guide used the commuting timeframe to give us insight information of the location we were headed, so by the time we arrived, our time was spread exploring the area (with expectation to Mitla, whom we had a local tour guide). We wish we had more time in Hierve el Agua (limited to 2 hours approx) but it's understandable when traveling through tours. My family experience was wonderful. Luis and Eloy were very friendly, and caring and answered all our questions. They also tried to give us insightful information regarding the communities and what life is like in the area.
Response from the operator: We’re glad you enjoyed the tour and found the bilingual explanations helpful. We understand your wish for more time at Hierve el Agua and appreciate your understanding of the tour schedule. We’re thrilled your family had a wonderful experience and hope to see you again soon!

Awesome tour guides!
Our tour was very organized and had both English and Spanish options. The bus they used was very comfortable and the tour guide Luis was super super awesome!!! He was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave explanations on everything which made the experience so much better. The bus driver was also super friendly.
Response from the operator: We’re thrilled to hear that the tour was well-organized and that both language options enhanced your experience. It’s great to know that Luis’s friendly and knowledgeable approach made such a positive impact. We appreciate your kind words!

We went on the Hierve el Agua tour with Luis and it was really good - it didn’t feel overly touristy and we learnt a lot about the local culture. Everything went very smoothly and Luis was an amazing tour guide!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the Hierve el Agua tour with Luis and that it felt authentic and informative. It’s great to know that everything went smoothly. We hope to welcome you back for more adventures!

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tour Boil the "classic" water: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.
How much does Tour Boil the "classic" water cost?
+
Prices start at $950 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tour Boil the "classic" water take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.
Is Tour Boil the "classic" water worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 68 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tour Boil the "classic" water?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tour Boil the "classic" water suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tour Boil the "classic" water?
+
Around 24 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tour Boil the "classic" water start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?
+
On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
