    Thanks Sally!

Sally was an amazing guide. She explained many interesting facts about the sites we visited. Moreover, since the place was very crowded, she was super good in being able to direct us in areas where there were much less people, finding hidden gems and places we wouldn’t expect. Of course we also visited the main areas. Highly recommended! Great value for money

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for your terrific review! We’re overjoyed Sally brought you such a rewarding tour experience. It’s fantastic that she shared so many fascinating facts, and skilfully steered you away from heavy crowds to discover those delightful hidden spots, while still covering all the key landmarks. We are glad you found the tour great value for money. We will pass all your lovely compliments to Sally. Hope to welcome you back to Beijing one day! Best regards, Lily's Beijing Tours Team

Highly‑recommended Forbidden City and Tiananmen tour

We had an absolutely incredible day exploring Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City with our guide Jeffrey. From the very start, everything was perfectly organised, and we really appreciated the smooth ticket handling which saved us lots of waiting time. Standing on Tiananmen Square was such a powerful, moving experience; our guide shared valuable background stories that helped us truly understand the significance of this iconic landmark. Moving on to the Forbidden City, we were blown away by the grand scale, magnificent architecture and centuries‑old imperial history. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, patient and engaging, bringing ancient royal stories to life instead of just listing facts. They walked us through the main halls, pointed out hidden cultural details, recommended wonderful photo spots, and thoughtfully answered every single one of our countless questions. The pace was flexible, so we could stop to admire the views whenever we wanted. Without a knowledgeable local guide, we would have only seen buildings without grasping the rich history behind them. This tour far exceeded our expectations. It was one of the most memorable highlights of our trip to Beijing. We highly recommend this tour and our wonderful guide to anyone visiting the city.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We are thrilled that you had an absolutely incredible day exploring Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City with Jeffrey. It is fantastic to know our well‑organised arrangements and smooth ticket handling helped you avoid long waiting times. We are glad Jeffrey brought the iconic landmarks and centuries‑old imperial history vividly to life through valuable background stories, cultural details and fascinating royal tales. We really appreciate you mentioning the flexible tour pace, great photo‑spot tips and his patience in answering all your questions. It means a lot to us that the tour exceeded your expectations and became one of your trip highlights. We will happily pass all your warm praise to Jeffrey. Thank you for choosing our tour. We would love to welcome you back should you visit Beijing again. Best regards, Lily's Beijing Tours Team

Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 89 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 526 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options?

    +

Around 184 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City Tour with Private/Group Options start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
