Easy purchase of tickets to see the Square

This is a great service to book the ticket for access to Tiananmen Square. Very easy instead of navigation we-chat. I had a wait time of only 20 minutes and went at 12pm in the day from a side entrance on Nanheyan Avenue into the north part of Tiananmen Square. When i walked south and left that way they had huge queues, so I'd avoid entering that way. Please be aware - I did the Forbidden City earlier that morning and people were coming in from the Duanmen Building and on loudspeaker it said this walkway was an exit only and no entrance back to the Square ( so look at it but don't go through into the Duanmen yet because you can't go back to the square ). My first photo. Anyone complaining about the wait times, this has nothing to do with the tour company but the fact in August is peak season with domestic tourism.meaning long queues, if you go later. Tips - try a side entrance, go earlier, don't go through the building with Mao on it until you've walked under the road to see all of the square south then come back that way.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing such detailed, practical first‑hand tips for visiting Tiananmen Square! We really appreciate your honest feedback on our ticketing service. It’s very helpful for other travelers to know about the less‑crowded side entrance on Nanheyan Avenue and the important reminder about the Duanmen Building being exit‑only in one direction. August is indeed peak tourist season, so wait times will naturally be longer for visitors arriving later in the day. We hope your trip went wonderfully, and thank you again for your great review!

    Allow several hours!!!!

The queue for the first checkpoint at around 10am was fairly quick, the second took about 45 mins. I couldn’t face the longer third checkpoint in the exhausting heat and humidity. May try again another day in the evening but will book by WeChat for free.

Response from the operator: So sorry to hear you had such a tough time waiting in the queues today. If you’d like to reschedule, feel free to get in touch with us — we can make the adjustment completely free of charge.

    Not worth it

You have to wait for hours to get in. Extremely strict security. Maybe you could spend 25 minutes there ?

Response from the operator: Hi there, this is Ezio 😊 Thanks a lot for sharing your real experience of Tiananmen Square! Security checks here are mandatory for all visitors, and we always remind guests to reserve enough time in advance before arrival. Though the visiting time inside is limited, the iconic landmark view is totally worth it✨ Hope you still had a nice little trip in Beijing!

    Great !

Good! The scale is very impressive ! Was a bit hard to understand where to get a qr ticket for entering. Viatour said that passport is the only ticket, but on the control policemen said there should be also qr ticket. Finally they let me in and everything was good, just took extra few mins for clarifications.

Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm sorry about the confusion regarding the ticket. I'll make sure to clarify this better in the future. Glad you got in smoothly in the end and were impressed by the scale. Have a great time on your other travels! 😊

Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket cost?

    +

Prices start at $3 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tiananmen Square - Registration Ticket start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
