What you'll see and do
Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes
The Inner Courtyard: It is hard to believe that this magnificent courtyard once hosted the horse stables and the kitchen. Let’s travel back in time to know the Knights Hospitallers secured their residence and why the statues of Roman senators adorn the location. Have a closer look at the contemporary restoration and discover what went wrong. The Room with the Ribbed Vault: Decorated with an early mosaic pavement decorated with birds, trees and vases originated from Kos and equipped with 16th-century furniture, the room used to be the office of Cesare Maria De Vecchi. De Vecchi was the one who conceived the program of restoration of the glory of the Knights Hospitallers. This humble room became the siege of the powerful De Vecchi. Listen to our stories in order to learn how the architect Vittorio Mesturino restored the grandeur of the Palace and the fame of the knights. The Room with the Nine Muses: The most beautiful room of the Palace which is decorated with the nine muses.

Dryly informative
Informative but not a great presentation. I do enjoy a good audio tour and listen to them quite often when I travel. This was a little dry. Not sure I would embark upon this production company again.
Response from the operator: Hello, and thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the audio guide did not meet your expectations. It was carefully created by professional curators to provide an engaging and informative experience throughout the visit. We truly appreciate your comments and will use them to improve our service for future visitors. If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them. Warm regards, Claire

I purchased the tickets...
I purchased the tickets online and they didn’t work for what I bought them for Do not buy from here. Scam
Response from the operator: Hello, and thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. We were unable to locate a reservation under the name used for this review, so we are unable to verify the details of your booking. Based on the situation you described, it appears that you may have presented the Viator voucher instead of the actual entry tickets. As clearly stated in our email instructions, the Viator voucher is not a valid entry ticket for admission. After your booking was confirmed, an email was sent with detailed instructions on how to download both your entry tickets and self-guided audio tour. Following these instructions ensures that you receive the correct tickets before your visit. Thank you for your understanding. Warm regards, Claire

Very useful
A useful guide & easy to download for use as you move around. Just be sure this is guide only not entrance. After tour I discovered a second exhibition on Ancient Rhodes opposite cafe but only open 2 days weekly & a stone hall in garden with more details of the knights. Neither were advertised any where which I think l is missing a good selling point for the castle
Response from the operator: Hello and thank you for your feedback! We are pleased to hear that you found the audio guide useful, easy to download, and convenient to use during your visit. We also appreciate you sharing your observations about the additional exhibitions and displays you discovered. As these exhibitions are not currently included in the experiences offered on our website, they are not mentioned in our tour description. We look forward to welcoming you back.✨ Warm regards, Claire

Misselling
This is a con it leaves you to believe admission is included, so I was turned away and had to pay again, this is misssold and useless, and I was refused a refund, total waste of money as all your descriptions are already at the palace.
Response from the operator: Hello 😊 Thank you for your feedback. We checked your booking and can confirm you selected the audio guide only option, which does not include admission. This is clearly stated in the product description before purchase. We’re sorry for the misunderstanding 🌷 Best regards, Jo

Over priced and over rated
€20 per person?? And there is little return. Items on display tell no story and the annotation was either missing or difficult to read (faded). Staff listed around the site were gazing at their phones (who can blame them as it was so boring) and they occasionally shouted out when a child touched a stone on display… one chap was equally bored and switched off a light which caused a staff member to have a melt down (that was the highlight of the visit). But hey, you’ve come all this way so give them your €20, have a wonder, have a moan (like me) and leave. Then treat yourself to some amazing food in a roof top terrace… you deserve it!
Response from the operator: Hello 👋 Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry the tour didn’t meet your expectations. The displays and annotations are managed by the museum. We hope our audio guide helped you better understand the exhibits and enjoy the story behind them ✨ Best regards, Jo

Why this scores 44
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rhodes.
How much does The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $12 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rhodes usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rhodes is not rushed.
Is The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rhodes, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rhodes can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rhodes and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Palace of the Grand Master Self-guided Audio Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rhodes within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rhodes?
+
On Outty we rank every Rhodes experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Makarounas Fishing Boat Trip with swimming stop and BBQ on board, Rhodes Exclusive Swim Cruise Cocktail Open bar & Gourmet Buffet, Athens cruise: Agistri, Moni/Metopi, Aegina with lunch & drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rhodes?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rhodes?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
