What you'll see and do

  1. Nasca Lines

After picking you up, we will go to The Nazca city to flight around the famous and enigmatic Nazca Lines. They are a group of very large geoglyphs hand formed/scratched out to make very strong depressions or shallow dirt removals in the dark soil of the Nazca Desert to reveal the very white under layer of rock or clay. These were carved out sometime between 200 AD and possibly 600 AD. There is no written record of the exact dates, but these seem to be a possible time frame. There is no a definitive reason for the carvings; however, numerous theories have been advanced: sculptures to be seen from the surrounding mountains, a big work project to worship they ancestors, or possibly a kind of message for their god so as to have water since the area is dry and it almost does not rain. You will watch the most representative figures such as the hummingbird, spider, monkey, geometrical forms and other mysterious forms. Note: if you don't like long distance trips, consider another option.

  2. Huacachina

Then, we will go to Huacachina to see its beautiful oasis which is the perfect destination for those travelers looking to relax surrounded by nature and beautiful landscapes. We will enjoy our day in the sand dunes desert, doing the Buggy tour (the drive is incredible). So much fun!

A trip to Nasca Lines

We took this trip from Lima to go fly over the famous prehistoric Nasca Lines. We were in a private SUV with our driver Alejandro and tour guide Susan. They both did a fenomenal job taking us all the way to Nasca and back to Lima on this over 17 hours trip. Susan made everything easy on the long journey with planning all stops for breaks and completing all necessary paperwork for the flight registration. The actual flight over the geogliphs was about 30 minutes and was rather on the smoot side, although one of our fellow compannions on the flight did get sick from the motion. The stop at the Huacachina Oasis and the dune buggy ride was awesome too. We did that early in the morning so it wasn't very hot and we had a great time riding over the dunes. Susan also shared quite a bit of history on both the Oasis and the geogliphs which was very interesting and informative. The stop for lunch at this hidden gem she took us to was really nice too. It was a very pretty restaurant with tasty authentic Peruvian food. At the end although it was a very long day it was worth every minute of it. Would highly recommend it if you are trying to find a better option to visit Nasca from Lima.

One of the top highlights of my Peruvian trip.

A must visit site for a complete Peruvian experience. The Nazca lines are both enigmatic and fascinating. Who made them and why is still being debated. They are beautiful and can only be admired truly from the air. The pilots are fantastic pointing to the geoglyphs with the wing tips to help you locate them. One of the geoglyphs is cut into 2 by the pan American highway and one can see it on the way to the little airport. The flight gives you a scale of the effort the ancient Peruvian civilisation has gone to create these magnificent geoglyphs. There are literally hundreds of them but the flight only fly over a handful of the most famous ones. On the way back a quick stop at Huacachina was most welcome for a break. The oasis is very picturesque and looks like a Hollywood movie set. Sand dunes with a lake and beautiful 1920s architecture provides the setting. The 6 hours journey from Lima to Nazca was worth it for me to witness one of the great mystery of the world.

Great, very long, day

It’s a very long day and we did it on no sleep but I wouldn’t have missed it Our driver Alejandro was a trouper and our guide Suzana was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. The flight over Nazca is no joke—if at all prone to motion sickness take your meds and even those may not help. Still an experience not to skip. I thought I’d be disappointed by the Oasis but the dune buggy ride was tons of fun

The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lima.

How much does The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip cost?

+

Prices start at $350 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lima usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip take?

+

Plan for about 17 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lima is not rushed.

Is The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lima, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 17-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lima can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lima and add a light layer if any part of the 17-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Nazca Lines, Huacachina Oasis & Dune Buggy - Private Trip start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lima within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lima?

+

On Outty we rank every Lima experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Peruvian Cooking Class, Local Market Tour & Exotic Fruit Tasting, The Complete Lima Experience: History, Culture & Flavors, #1 Rated Lima Cooking Class: Make Ceviche, Causa & Pisco Sours!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lima?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lima?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
