Mongolia - with the Eagle Hunters

Proud people the eagle hunters are and what impressed me is the good care they take for the birds. We experienced a demo of the relationship between the man and his bird from the people that host us in their gear, the grandfather that once appeared in the National Geographic and his grandson that learn form his grandpa - he will keep the tradition for at least one more generation. They let us hold the eagles, heavy birds, we learn how they catch them, how they train them and that after 5 or 6 years of using them for hunting foxes, rabbits and even wolfs, the birds, that always will be females, will be released back in the wild and they the live at least another 20 years in freedom. Great personal experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for capturing it so vividly. We are so glad it left the impression it deserved. West Mongolia is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, Ron

Amazing experience - adventure and authentic cultural immersion

An absolutely incredible experience with Mongolian Ways. From the moment I first contacted them a year ago all the way to the final day of the trip they were excellent. The trip itself was fantastic. Our guides were all highly educated and knowledgeable and very attentive to all our needs. The landscapes and cultural experience made for an amazing holiday. If you enjoy adventure, authentic local experiences, cultural immersion and getting off the beaten track this is the trip of a lifetime. Thank you again Mongolian Ways. Highly recommend.

Response from the operator: A big thank you for trusting us with your journey and for taking the time to share this so generously. 'The Land of Eagle Hunters' is one of those trips that asks a great deal from travelers, and it gives back even more to those who embrace it fully. It is clear you did exactly that. We hope to welcome you back to Mongolia one day. With heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude, Ron Mongolian Ways

Mongolian Ways - always worth a repeat

After my first trip with Mongolian Ways in 2022 to the Eagle Hunter Festival, I knew that if I ever returned to Mongolia, it would be with Ron and his team. Now, my second journey to the north / Chöwsgöl region, confirmed that i made exactly the right choice. Once again, the tour was thoughtfully tailored to our wishes and executed with outstanding professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail. Ron and his team have an incredible ability to turn every day into a memorable experience, whether it's through breathtaking landscapes, authentic cultural encounters, or their calm and resourceful handling of the unexpected. No matter the situation, you always feel safe, well cared for, and in the best possible hands. Mongolia continues to amaze me with its endless horizons, stunning natural beauty, and the genuine hospitality of its people. Experiencing this extraordinary country for a second time was every bit as inspiring as our first visit, and Mongolian Ways made it unforgettable once again. If you're looking for an authentic, personalized, and expertly organized adventure in Mongolia, we cannot recommend Mongolian Ways highly enough. Thank you, Ron and the entire team, for another incredible journey — i hope to be back again someday!

Response from the operator: Dear Stephan, Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It was a true pleasure to welcome you back to Mongolia for a second time - and we certainly hope it won't be the last! Knowing that you chose to travel with us again after your Eagle Festival journey in 2022 is one of the greatest compliments we could receive. Your trust means a great deal to all of us, and we are delighted that this journey through the Hövsgöl region lived up to your expectations. Thank you as well for your generous comments about our team. We all work hard to create journeys that are authentic, personal, and memorable, so reading your review truly means the world to us. We are already looking forward to welcoming you, Anja, and perhaps a few more friends for Mongolia – Chapter III. Maybe it's finally time for the Gobi Desert! Until then, thank you once again for your friendship, your continued trust, and for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. With our deepest appreciation, Ron on behalf of the entire Mongolian Ways team

The Land Of Eagle Hunters: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ulaanbaatar.

How much does The Land Of Eagle Hunters cost?

    +

Prices start at $2,460 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ulaanbaatar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Land Of Eagle Hunters take?

    +

Plan for about 264 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ulaanbaatar is not rushed.

Is The Land Of Eagle Hunters worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Ulaanbaatar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Land Of Eagle Hunters?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is The Land Of Eagle Hunters suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 264-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book The Land Of Eagle Hunters?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ulaanbaatar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ulaanbaatar and add a light layer if any part of the 264-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Land Of Eagle Hunters start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ulaanbaatar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ulaanbaatar?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ulaanbaatar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include BEST 5* Chinggis Khaan Airport UBN Ulaanbaatar Transfer Taxi 24/7, A day trip to Terelj National Park and Statue of Chinggis Khan, Genghis Khan Statue+Terelj Park+CamelRide+Eagle. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ulaanbaatar?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ulaanbaatar?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
