    What you'll see and do

    1. The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show - Denver, CO

At The Dinner Detective, you’ll tackle a hilarious and challenging crime while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The culprit is hiding in plain sight somewhere in the room, and you may find yourself as a Prime Suspect before you know it!  Our engaging and unique murder mystery dinner theatre performances have been playing across the country since 2004. Our show is very different from traditional murder mystery dinner shows.  We will hide non-costumed actors in the audience that are pretending to be part of the crowd.  This results in a much more social and interactive evening than with other shows.  Our shows are set during the present day and take place in real time.  Over the course of the night, our costumed Detectives will uncover clues, interrogate audience members that may or may not be part of the show, and help everyone get closer to solving the mystery.

    A Must Experience Event!

What a fabulous experience! Very engaging from the start. Actors and hosts kept the show moving while still allowing time to interact with the people at our table.

Low expectations is the key to happiness

Our party of eight celebrated a birthday at the Dinner Detective I really had no expectations, which is always advisable when you don't want to be disappointed. From what I surmise, is the Dinner Detective is a franchise that is provided murder mystery scripts from the parent company, then contracts with a hotel for room/catering, and hires local "talent". The performers were friendly, the script was "corny, and we had fun because we made it fun. It was an amateur production with the actors wearing their street clothes. No costumes or props/sets in the room just, eight round tables in a hotel event space. The food was edible, the service was poor but we didn't come to "eat" so we just accepted that part of the evening. Unfortunately three people in our party became ill about 8-9 hours later. I did voice concerns but they assured me that they did everything right (held food at right temperatures, didn't serve expired food) but did state the "protein" was cooked the day before and made a point to state the salad was made fresh that day. (this explains why you cant change what you order). While i give them credit for stating the meals were cooked the day belore, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Response from the operator: Hello Karen, thank you for your comments. The Dinner Detective is very different from a traditional murder mystery show, and we're sorry the event was not to your liking. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to us after the event. After our email correspondence with your party, our venue did a thorough investigation of all food services and suppliers at our Sat 1/17 show in Denver, and their teams concluded that all parties and supplies were prepared properly and safely. No other guests or actors were affected. Thanks for joining us, and we hope you have a great weekend.

The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Denver.

How much does The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Denver usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Denver is not rushed.

Is The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 39 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Denver, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Denver can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Denver and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Mystery Show - Denver, CO start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Denver within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Denver?

    +

Denver is a launch pad. Rocky Mountain National Park, Pikes Peak, Red Rocks and the Georgetown rail loop all run as day trips, and altitude makes the timing of your first hike matter. In town: brewery crawls, Union Station food walks and Red Rocks show nights. We rank mountain operators on van size, pace and whether they build in altitude acclimatisation. On Outty we rank every Denver experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Downtown Denver Food Tour, Twilight Ghost Tour, Small Group Tour of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods from Denver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Denver?

    +

June to September for open mountain passes, or December to March for ski shuttles. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Denver?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
