About this experience
You are able to Snorkel in better areas than the "big boats" Most customers love the hydrophone we stick in the water to listen to the whales. All of our staff will give whale facts as well as answer any questions. The Express Whale Watch/ Molokini Snorkel is a great way to combine snorkeling at Molokini with a whale watching adventure on a fast and maneuverable rigid hulled inflatable. We almost always make it to Molokini on this one, but if conditions are not favorable, a shoreline alternate may be selected. Your passage to and from Molokini will take you through waters laden with Humpback whales with a high percentage of mother/calf/escort pods. Just today a whale surfaced less than ten yards from our boat and lifted her calf out of the water on her head to show us. Awesome! About one hour is devoted to snorkeling, and 1 1/2 hours to passage and whale watching. Beverages and gear are included.

Small group, fantastic snorkeling
This was the best snorkeling I’ve ever done. The boat is small and even with 24 people there was room to spare and we never felt squished. Our 11 year-old son was nervous and they made sure he had an extra float and tons of reassurance. It really made the whole experience awesome for him. The guides showed us where to go and set us free at the perfect time when the big boats were leaving the crater. Highly recommend this tour! My elderly mom went just to watch and even though we were out of whale season and didn’t see any, she also enjoyed it. Smooth ride for a small boat.

Don’t waste any of your vacation time here
Had reservations for Saturday and they were canceled due to wind which is fine- we rescheduled for Saturday and showed up and we weren’t on the manifest and there was no room to take us. Called them and the guy said “oh I see what happened the owner was notified but she didn’t see it” and he put me on hold to speak with her. He came back and offered me a free upgrade for tomorrow but we fly out tonight. They gave me a refund but I have to call trip advisor to process it. I took several hours of my precious vacation time for this that I can’t get back. We were only on Maui for 3 days and this took up significant time on two separate days that we could have been enjoying the island. They were barely apologetic and extremely disorganized. Wouldn’t recommend wasting any of your vacation time with this company.

Blue Water Rafting Canceled and will NOT REFUND
March, 2026 I signed up and paid for the Blue Water Rafting trip to Molokini and whale watch. Per the policy, a refund will be given if they cancel the trip. They canceled the trip the morning of claiming wind, even though other boats were doing the same trip. They refuse to refund my money and refuse to respond to my emails and phone calls. Not only were we disappointed that our excursion was canceled, we are out $478.83. I had to resort to disputing the charge with my credit card which will take months to resolve. Do not book with Blue Water Rafting.
Response from the operator: We’re sorry to hear about your frustration, but we do need to clarify several inaccuracies in this review. First and foremost, we absolutely do issue refunds when trips are canceled due to weather or unsafe conditions. Guest safety is always our top priority, and cancellations are never made lightly. In your case, the booking was made through Viator, and payment was processed directly by them using the credit card information you provided at checkout. Because of this, all refunds are handled through Viator—not directly by our company. Once a cancellation occurs, Viator is responsible for issuing the refund back to your original form of payment. We want to be very clear: we do not withhold refunds when we cancel a trip. Any claim suggesting otherwise is incorrect. If there is a delay, it would be related to Viator’s processing timelines or procedures, not a refusal on our part. For the fastest resolution, we recommend continuing to follow up directly with Viator regarding your refund status. We stand by our policies and our commitment to our guests, and we respectfully consider this review to be based on a misunderstanding of how third-party bookings are processed.

A must do if you visit Maui
Rachel and Alex were awesome! We enjoyed the trip. Saw lots of whales and snorkel and see beautiful fish. Rachel was very knowledgeable about everything we saw, and she even shared underwater videos. She got of the whales with us afterward.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Maui.
How much does The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch cost?
+
Prices start at $170 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Maui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Maui is not rushed.
Is The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 66 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Maui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch?
+
Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Maui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Maui and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Best 2.5 Hour Molokini Snorkel Tour & Whale Watch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Maui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Maui?
+
Maui's three signature days are the Hana road, the Haleakala summit sunrise and the Molokini snorkel sail, and all three are logistics problems as much as experiences. Sunrise summit entry is permit-controlled, Hana is a ten-hour driving day, and Molokini boats vary wildly in size. Our ranking rewards operators who handle permits and keep boat capacity low. On Outty we rank every Maui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Molokini Crater + South Maui Coast Adventure from Kihei, Maui, Maui: VIP Private Road to Hana Tour with Pick Up, Road to Hana Adventure Maui Tour with Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Maui?
+
April to May and September to October. Whale season runs December to April. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Maui?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
