My favorite thing to do in Wilmington NC

I have been on several historic walking tours in Wilmington, NC and Steve Little's is by far the best! I went once for my birthday and loved it so much I took my best friend and her boyfriend when they came to town to visit! We all loved it, and even the man in the group, who was a bit skeptical at first, ended the tour by saying how much he had learned and how much he enjoyed hearing about the Badass Women of Old Wilmington. I will 100% be taking more people on this tour and recommending it to friends looking for something to do in downtown Wilmington!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! I’m especially flattered that you enjoyed the tour enough to come back and bring your friends—and I love that even the skeptical guy was won over! 😂 It means a lot to know the stories stayed with all of you. I’ll look forward to seeing you again with your next group of unsuspecting guests!

I would highly recommend this tour with Steve. He makes it very special. You won’t regret it.!

Steve met us promptly. And I love that he was dressed in period clothes. Steve was extremely knowledgeable of the stories and facts. What made it so special, is Steve loves what he does, is a wonderful storyteller and wants to share.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I’m glad you enjoyed the period attire and, most of all, the stories. I genuinely love sharing Wilmington’s history, so it means a lot to hear that my enthusiasm came through. It was a pleasure having you both on the tour! Hope your trip back to Detroit was an easy one...

    Delightful, informative, and fun tour!

Gallus, Rose, and Alethea. That's just some of the names that our tour guide Steven shared with us as we learned fascinating stories of Wilmington's past. What made this walking tour special is that you knew from the beginning that the guide loves history and wants to tell tales in a way that bring them alive! I could imagine the saloons of Wilmington's bustling past. I could imagine the heartache that these women experienced and overcame. They became like stories of family members long passed away. Walking away, I had had a special day learning about the past with an absolutely delightful guide. Steven is one that I will look for in future trips to Wilmington to see what else he has up his sleeves. Bravo!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. It means a great deal to hear that the stories stayed with you long after the walk ended. My hope has always been to bring these remarkable women to life—not as names in a history book, but as real people who loved, struggled, persevered, and shaped Wilmington into the city it is today. I'm especially grateful that you felt a personal connection to their stories. If you walked away feeling like you had spent time with old friends and family, then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do. Thank you for spending part of your day with me, and for your kind words. I look forward to welcoming you back someday soon. Indeed, I do have a few more stories up my sleeve!

The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Wilmington.

How much does The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $27 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Wilmington usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Wilmington is not rushed.

Is The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Wilmington, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Wilmington can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Wilmington and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does The Badass Women of Old Wilmington: A Historic Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Wilmington within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Wilmington?

    +

Wilmington runs riverfront history and ghost walks, Battleship North Carolina visits, film-location tours, and boat trips out to Wrightsville Beach and Masonboro Island. On Outty we rank every Wilmington experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include History and Architecture Walking Tour, THE Wilmington History, Haunts & Breweries E-Bike Tour (4 hr), Sailing Charters in Wilmington. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Wilmington?

    +

April to June and September to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Wilmington?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
