Best cookery experience on the island

Erik gave us a warm welcome into their absolutely beautiful home/business. The class started with a little bit of history and facts that I absolutely loved. Then we moved down into a wonderful well equipped cook station near the original fire out in the garden. Ave then served some authentic tapas with even more interesting facts from Erik while we enjoyed a refreshment (wine, homemade lemonade, beer or water) We then had a rundown of what we were going to do and we're really well instructed by Ave. She really knows how to make a great paella! We then moved downstairs to enjoy our dinner in a beautiful dining room with even more drinks. The night ended with suprise dessert and a digestive! Really impressed and so happy we chose this course.

Great traditional paella experience in a tiny village

We have a tradition that where ever we attent a local cooking class. Ave is a professional chef and Erik an experienced tour guide. Although both not from the Island they embrace Tenerife completely as their new home. Erik took us along Tenerifes history and Ave had a precise and disciplined way of teaching us how to make great traditional paella. They offer fish, vegetarían and meat options. Their home made lemon grass lemonade was delicious as well. We where together with our daughter. We really liked the experience. The village Chirche is lovely and steep up and down hill. If you do not like driving in tiny and small villages, Erik would love to pick you up. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Authentic cooking class with heart – an unforgettable culinary experience! 🇪🇸🥘❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a great and authentic experience! 😍🇪🇸 This cooking workshop was definitely more for us than just cooking together. The special, authentic location and the warm atmosphere alone ensured that you felt welcome immediately. You don't get a touristy cooking show here, but rather experience real, traditional cuisine with a lot of personality and passion. ❤️ Together we chopped, prepared, cooked, laughed, and of course tasted. We were particularly impressed by the fantastic paella with fresh seafood 🦐🥘 – incredibly aromatic and simply delicious! The small side dishes and appetizers with regional ingredients as well as the dessert were also really tasty and prepared with a lot of love. The best part: You were really allowed to participate and received many tips, explanations, and insights into the traditional preparation. Everything was relaxed, personal, and absolutely informal. In the end, we sat together at the table, enjoyed our homemade dishes, and spent a wonderful evening. These are exactly the kinds of experiences that stay in your memory on vacation. 🥰 Anyone who loves authentic cuisine, good food, and special experiences off the beaten tourist path should definitely take this cooking class! A very clear recommendation from us – 5 stars and we would do it again anytime! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you Ave & Erik for this great experience

Our best experience on our trip!

We attended the seafood paella class on a Friday evening. The location is in the small “mountain” village of Chirche, which is a excursion in itself to see Tenerife beyond the high-rise resorts. We were met by Erik at the door of their lovely home. A simple entrance led to a wonderfull courtyard and outside kitchen. It is amazing what Erik, retired tour guide, and Ave, retired chef, have done with the property, it was one of the most charming, and incredibly cozy places we have ever seen, we almost did not wanna leave the place. Erik is full of wonderful stories and gave us a fantastic talk on the area and culture of Tenerife and the Canarias. Then Ave took over to show us her secrets of paella making. We had a small group, it was us two and another family of 4, which made it feel personal and special. After making our own delicious seafood paella with fresh and authentic ingredients, we sat down and ate it together in a very charming dining room. It was absolutely fantastic! For a perfect finale, Ave treated us to a wonderful dessert and some fresh fruit. Ave and Erik are such warm, generous people— the whole experience felt like being welcomed into their home. Truly one of the most authentic and non-commercial slow food experiences you can have on the island! Highly recommended!

Highlight of Tenerife: Cooking in the Mountains

We did the Casa Carmen cooking class with our family, and it ended up being a great experience. Ave is a really solid chef - good at keeping everyone on track without making it feel forced. We learned something rather than just going through the motions. Erik brings a different angle with the storytelling. He shares a lot of local history and context that makes the whole thing more memorable than a typical cooking class. We now know the difference between Paella and 'Arroz con Cosas'. 😂 The setting is a big part of it too. Up in the mountains, everything feels different—the weather, the architecture, the pace. It feels like stepping into a different century. Everyone left full and happy. One of the highlights of our trip. Great hosts, great food, and a cool way to see a different side of Tenerife. Would definitely recommend.

Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.

How much does Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House cost?

    +

Prices start at $14 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.

Is Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tenerife: Paella Cooking Class in Traditional Canarian House start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tenerife?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tenerife?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tenerife?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
