Worth every euro!!!
Have no hesitations in doing this tour with John! This was a day we will never forget. His passion and knowledge of the Douro Valley wine region is exceptional. We were treated to such an amazing day out from a private wine tasting at an old traditional winery, a tranquil boat ride, a tasting at a beautiful new winery and did I mention the lunch? WOW! And I haven’t told you about the old convertible Cadillac! Brilliant! A truly beautiful day that we will never forget! Thank you John 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Response from the operator: Dear Jacinta, What wonderful words. Thank you so much for your kindness and for visiting our country! It was a true pleasure to meet you all, and I hope to welcome you back to Portugal again someday. 😍😍

11/10: Couldn't recommend more
Our experience with João was incredible. From the beginning to the end of the day, João was kind, personable, interesting, and intelligent. He personalized the tour to what he thought we'd find most interesting and took care of every last detail; from having iced waters in the car to scheduling wine tours to booking the boat tour and organizing undoubtedly the most unforgettable meal (lunch) of our entire trip, this was the highlight of our time in Portugal. You'll end the day stuffed, tipsy, and far more knowledgable about the region and its products than you were before. If you're looking to explore everything that the Douro has to offer, learn about the region and its wines, and eat incredible food, João is your guy. Really couldn't recommend the experience more.

Douro Valley Tour in a vintage Cadillac
The Douro Valley tour (in a 1970’s Cadillac) in Portugal was an unforgettable experience. The stunning landscapes of terraced vineyards and the winding Douro River took my breath away. The wine tastings at the local wineries were exceptional, showcasing the region's renowned Port and table wines. The boat ride along the river offered breathtaking views of the valley. The knowledgeable guide (João Cardoso) shared fascinating insights into the history and winemaking process. João, made the experience of The Valley unique and special. The quaint villages we visited added a charming touch to the tour. Overall, a must-do for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Did I mentioned the tour was in a vintage Cadillac? :)

Must do wine experience!
My husband and I had the most amazing wine tour, thanks to João! He was friendly, knowledgable and professional. We rode on his 70s Cadillac convertible. What an adventure! The wines we tasted were great quality and the locations just beautiful. The lunch was in a traditional restaurant and was exquisite, food made with heart. We highly recommend this tour, it was the best experience in Porto. So special!

Classic car day in Douro
I cannot say enough good things about Joao and the fabulous day we had with him! From the red classic Cadillac convertible, to his extensive knowledge of the area and its history ( it is his home after all) he really made Portugal and Douro come alive. Everything was top notch and Joao’s friendly attitude was delightful. We highly highly recommend this tour— you will not be sorry—thanks again Joao!!!!!!

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $413 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Taste the Douro - Vintage Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
