    1. Oaxaca

Our Oaxaca food tour offers guests a culinary experience around the city's medina. It's a carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of Oaxaca tastemakers. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, and the limitations of street food vendors and local eateries mean we cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian as the number of tastings would be very limited. ✔ Gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, mild nut allergies, no pork diets and no seafood diets are possible, though some tastings do not have alternatives available If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!

Truly authentic experience with a superb guide - and long established family run food providers.

************ Dora, Kia ora (may you be well/in good health). Mel and I thoroughly enjoyed all the tastings in Oaxaca today. Both the drinks and the food were truly authentic and delicious. And, above all, the fantastic stories about preparation, extraction, and production stood out, as well as the central role of family, gastronomy, culture, and politics, both locally and regionally. History and customs added great depth to the experience you offered us; it was truly enriching and unforgettable. We also appreciate the recommendations for supporting local artisans. We will leave you a very positive review—a 5-Michelin-star review! I hope Google Translate helps me express our gratitude! Nga mihi nui David and Melanee

An excellent tour, filled with so much food and a wonderful guide!

This is an excellent tour that I would thoroughly recommend. I am so glad I picked it! Come hungry, as you certainly get to try some marvelous food across the city. Alejandra was a marvelous guide—she was knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and took the time to explain the significance of the different dishes. It all felt like excellent value for money. We tried food we wouldn't have found otherwise and learned so much about the city. Thank you, Alejandra, you were amazing!

    Incredible experience!

This was an amazing tour! We loved getting to try more local spots that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise and learning about the rich history of food in Oaxaca from Ale and Dora, who were incredibly knowledgeable. The tortas stop was our favorite!! The amount of food was also thankfully manageable if you’re a good eater.

Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taste Oaxaca Food Tour with 15+ Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes, Hierve el Agua and distillery of mezcal tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
