Stellar experience making classic Taiwanese dish

Be My Guest Taipei Cooking Class was a great experience, and Alex was an excellent host! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone visiting Taipei who enjoys food, cooking food, and learning some cultural context along the way. We lucked out by essentially having a private cooking class based on the day and time of our booking. Alex began the class by giving us a short tour of the Dadaocheng neighborhood of Taipei, including a neighborhood market. His cooking studio is very modern, aesthetically tasteful, and fully stocked. He provided fool-proof instructions on how to cook Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and it was such an interesting experience that the time just flew by. You make everything in the soup from scratch (including both the noodles and the broth), and the final product was absolutely delicious - perhaps even more so knowing that you make it yourself! This is certainly one of the highlights of our multi-week Taipei trip. After the class, you can simply walk down Dihua Street and check out the varied storefronts and the nearby Yongle Fabric Market. All worthwhile destinations in their own right.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! Hosting you was an absolute joy, and I’m thrilled that beef noodle soup became both a delicious dish and a cultural adventure. Cooking from scratch can feel like a mini magic trick — flour turns into noodles, broth transforms into comfort, and suddenly you’ve got a bowl that tastes like home. I’m glad you enjoyed the stroll through Dadaocheng too; that neighborhood is like Taipei’s living history book, with every street corner offering a new story. And yes, time really does fly when you’re kneading, simmering, and laughing along the way! Your recommendation means the world — food is always better when shared, and I’m grateful you chose to share this experience with me. May your future travels be seasoned with just as much flavor and fun! 謝謝你們(Xie Xie Ni Men)

    This cooking class was...

This cooking class was part tour of old Taipei and part grandma's recipes. Alex was personable, informative and proud to share his favorite recipes with us. The braised pork rice was fun to prepare and delicious. The bitter gourd was a taste of Taiwanese food I had never experienced before. Highly recommended!

Response from the operator: Thank you for joining today’s cooking class. We always hope our guests can deeply experience the unique flavors and cultural characteristics of Taiwan. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Thank you.

Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.

How much does Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng cost?

    +

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.

Is Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 107 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng?

    +

Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taipei Cooking Class & Market Adventure in Historic Dadaocheng start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Taipei?

    +

On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Taipei?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Taipei?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
