Could have been better
Started well with a 3 hours journey reaching Anna Bay. Good we have a stop at 1 and half mark. Sand boarding is fun for young people and the 4WD is probably very or too tame! No excitement Bus broke down and we had to eat our lunch at Anna Bay instead of Nelson Bay. The dolphin cruise was … honestly bland and boring. The journey back to Sydney was a horrid ride. The replacement bus was Hot and super bumpy. Every bump on the road is felt thoroughly throughout the whole 3hours home. Our back and backside was in pain….. not a fun day

The guide was rude, we...
The guide was rude, we left late due to a fellow passenger arriving late. This tour is for families and people who are less active. We spent 30 minutes at a dirty service station. The guide argued with two of us who booked the hike over the Dolphin cruise. It appeared he did not care to take us to the hike. The tour is not a good representation of the area of Australia, is very touristy and overall not worth it. Worst tour I’ve taken via Viator

Poorly timed activities
The tour itself is pretty average: while the places we visited were amazing, the guide was not very informative. She did not give us any information and was only driving. The small bus was very uncomfortable. The timing of the activities felt very rushed and not well planned, as we were given a long time for lunch (which was quite unnecessary) and a very limited amount of time for the actual activities such as the hike. Overall, if you do not want to rent a car, it is a nice way to see some beautiful places not too far from Sydney, but the service and the timing of the activities could definitely be improved.

Our guide was amazing on this tour. Aurelio gave us plenty of time and great tips for each portion of the tour. I highly recommend this itinerary for anyone that wants to try something unique outside of the Sydney metro area.

Beautiful places, service improveable
I was expecting a guided tour but it was actually a transfer service from one point to another because no historical-naturalistic explanations were given about the places visited. The minibus was quite uncomfortable, with little legroom between the seats and small windows. We were offered a bottle of water each which I greatly appreciated. The places visited are beautiful. The sandboarding experience is very nice and suitable for everyone. The view from Mount Tamboree is among the most beautiful in the world! I wish I had more time, though. Instead of leaving an hour for lunch at the village, it would be advisable to ask customers to bring packed lunches and accompany them directly to the beginning of the climb to the mountain. I also believe that by better calibrating the times of the excursion, Athens can also make both the walk and the trip to spot dolphins.

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.
How much does Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option cost?
+
Prices start at $169 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.
Is Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sydney: Port Stephens Sandboarding, Dunes & Dolphin Cruise option start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sydney?
+
On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sydney?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sydney?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
