    Walk the plank

These reviews mustn’t be real because it wasn’t that great at all - this is specific to the pirate tall ship cruise. Captain Pineapple was great and his enthusiasm was probably the best part, but he also ran from place to place constantly and it was hard to know what was going on. They would say go to another part of the boat and we’d go with our child, but then nothing would really happen, then it would be back to the previous part of the boat again for more talking. The pirate actions include drawing on the deck with chalk, having plastic swords that the kids did nothing with, and a cannon that well, did nothing because it’s plastic, and sweeping the deck with some brooms. It was really hot to just stand there listening to random talking and disorganisation. Keep Caltain pineapple but get a proper structure so guests know what they’re doing and a story is great, but the kids especially young kids need to be engaged. For the price you also expect more pirates stuff… maybe more pirates!

Response from the operator: Hello, Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your pirate tall ship cruise experience. We’re really glad to hear that Captain Pineapple’s energy and enthusiasm stood out—that’s exactly the spirit we aim to bring onboard. That said, it’s clear the overall experience didn’t feel as engaging or well-structured as it should have, especially when you were expecting a more immersive and interactive adventure for your child. We understand how frustrating it can be to move around the ship without clear direction or consistent activities, particularly in the heat. Your comments about pacing, clearer organization, and more hands-on pirate activities (and yes—more pirates!) are genuinely helpful. We’re sharing this with our team so we can improve the flow of the experience and better engage younger guests throughout the journey. We appreciate your honesty and hope we’ll have the chance to deliver a more exciting and seamless adventure in the future. Kind Regards, Sydney Harbour Tall Ships

    Fantastic day on the bay

Had a fantastic day with our 6 and 8 year olds. The crew were wonderful- particularly the two entertainers, Jolly Roger and Captain Pineapple! On Sydney Harbour with a beer and the kids were having a ball. Highly recommended

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your family had such a fantastic day out on the harbour. It’s great to know that Jolly Roger and Captain Pineapple helped make the experience extra special for your kids—they’ll be so happy to hear your kind words! We love creating fun and memorable moments for families, and it sounds like you made the most of it (with a well-earned beer in hand too!). Thanks again for the recommendation—we hope to welcome you all back on board again soon! Kind Regards, Sydney Harbour Tall Ships

    To the boarding!!!

We spent a very enjoyable and fun day with the Pirates, aboard a splendid vintage ship. The tour, or rather, the "Mutiny Cruise," was a truly entertaining experience in a splendid and unique setting in Sydney Harbour. A must-do for families with children, who joyfully and enthusiastically participate in the mutiny, the steering of the ship—even as deckhands—and the search for treasure! Definitely worth a try!

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such an enjoyable and memorable day aboard our vintage ship. The “Mutiny Cruise” is designed to be a fun, immersive adventure, and it’s fantastic to know that both you and the children embraced the experience—from steering the ship to joining the treasure hunt! Creating a lively and unique atmosphere for families is exactly what we aim for, so your kind words truly mean a lot to our crew. We hope to welcome you back on board for another adventure soon—who knows what treasures await next time! Kind Regards, Sydney Harbour Tall Ships

Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $69 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sydney Harbour Tall Ship Pirate Cruise Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
