- Angkor Wat Sunrise: We begin with a pre-dawn departure (4.30 to 4.40 am depending on the time of year) from your hotel for sunrise outside Angkor Wat. Enter the great temple in darkness from the little-visited eastern side, and creep along hoary cloistered corridors past the longest stretch of bas-relief carvings in the world. We end our tour at Angkor with breakfast outside the temple (take away, from your hotel), and a short rest. - Ta Prohm Temple: One of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today looks much as it did in the early 1850s. - Bayon Temple: Angkor Thom is the majestic site once served as the Khmer Empire's glistening capital city. - Angkor Thom South Gate: This majestic site once served as the Khmer Empire's glistening capital city. Take a moment to consider its grandiosity before venturing inside the city.

    2. Angkor Thom South Gate

The Angkor Thom South Gate is the best-preserved of the five main entrances to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. It features a famous causeway lined with sculptures of 54 gods (devas) on the left and 54 demons (asuras) on the right, pulling on the tail of a Naga (serpent) as part of the "Churning of the Ocean" myth. The causeway crosses a moat, leading to a large, ornate stone tower capped by three face-towers, similar to the famous Bayon Temple, symbolizing the link between the mortal world and the divine.

    3. Bayon Temple

At the heart of Angkor Thom is the 12th-century Bayon, the mesmerising, if slightly mind-bending, state temple of Jayavarman VII. 4. Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm is up there with Angkor Wat and Bayon temple as one of the most visited temples in the Angkor Park. The jungle is literally growing through the middle of the temple which also adds intrigue and wonder to this amazing site. It gets very crowded here, so keep reading our helpful Ta Prohm Temple Guide to know exactly when to come to avoid the large crowds.

    Kim gave an excellent tour

My mother and I were looking forward to seeing Angkor Wat at sunrise and learn about the history of the empire, and we’re glad we had Kim as a guide. He was very knowledgeable about the Khmer Empire and the temple. He was patient, letting us take our time wandering and taking in the sites. Kim is also an excellent photographer, and took great photos of us at many sites. He also brought us to Angkor Tom, Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm, and we feel we got a wonderful day tour of the ancient empire. I’d highly recommend Kim’s tour!

    Perfect for solo travellers

For solo travellers like myself, this was the perfect way to experience sunrise at Angkor Wat and visit the stunning Ta Prohm and Bayan temples. Kim was punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable, arriving at the Angkor Wat viewing platform before the bigger crowds. We could stop for photos whenever I wished and moved quickly through busy areas as it was just the two of us. The motorbike ride was comfortable and Kim is a safe driver.

Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sunrise Angkor Wat One Day Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

    +

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kampong Phluk Floating Village Tour by Boat, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap, Angkor Wat Sunrise & 3 Main Temples – Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
