1. Sorrento Coast

In our way to Pompei, we will pass through Sant'agnello, Piano di Sorrento, Meta and Vico Equense, different neighborhoods with lovely sights and historical architecture, while we reach the highway that will bring us to the Archeological Park.

2. Archaeological Park of Pompeii

   Discover the city of Pompei, once a very important commercial point in Roman Imperium. brutally buried by the Vesuvius eruption of 79AC. discover an endless ruin park, full of history you can walk and touch. Pompei is worldwide known for its immensity and story. Once was one of the most important commercial maritime cities of the Roman Imperium. with the emblematic abundance road, majestic forums, rich local art and entertainment together with very modern comforts and amenities for their citizens. Pompei was home of many important families of that century. but one day, everything changed. The massive vulcano (there almost twice than now) that was sleeping beside the city, decided to wake up on a massive pyroclastic eruption that in 3 days, totally buried the city, taking out with heat, gas and ashes, all the Pompeians were used to know, and also the lives of thousands. Admire the scene frizzed of those days on the 79AC, while you walk through city's roads and palaces at your own pace.

3. Via dell’Abbondanza

   Via dell'Abbondanza is Pompeii's main east-west thoroughfare, stretching over 500-600 meters from the Forum to Porta di Sarno. It is a street rich in domes, shops, and lively commercial activity, characterized by a “humpback” pavement with oval stones for pedestrian crossing.

4. Casa del Fauno

   House of the Faun (casa del Fauno) is one of the most important and luxury buildings of Pompei, started to be built during the III century BC and finally modified and amply enlarged during the 120 BC, getting into more than 2900 square meters. The house presents a big central garden (Atrio) with a statue of the Fauno that named the residence. own by an important family of Pompei, the house takes lot of square meters for gardens but not for rooms, demonstrating an important desire to show power and richness from few.

5. Foro de Pompeya

   The political and administration center of the city, where the Pompeians voted for the laws and discuss the daily life, it represents a symbol of modern politics and humanism.

6. Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane)

   The Stabian Baths, so named because they are located at the intersection of Via dell'Abbondanza and Via Stabiana, were built around the 4th-3rd century BC. The structure features a trapezoidal porticoed gymnasium at its center: the columns, originally slimmer in shape, were heavily plastered after the earthquake of 62 AC. In the eastern area, the bathing rooms are divided into men's and women's sections: the men's "Frigidarium" (for cold baths) has a dome-shaped vault imitating the sky, niches on the walls, and depictions of marine subjects. It was originally intended to serve as a "Calidarium" (warm baths), as there are rooms where braziers were placed. The women's "Frigidarium" was built after the men's.

7. Tempio di Giove Capitolino

   The Temple of Jupiter was built around 250 BC and was originally dedicated to Jupiter: it was built during a period of rapid urban expansion in the city and soon became the main sacred structure in Pompeii . Following the conquest of the city by Lucius Cornelius Sulla, the temple was dedicated to the worship of the Capitoline Triad, hence its name Capitolium. Then, in addition to the veneration of Jupiter, Statues of Juno and Mars were also added: it was customary among the Romans to dedicate temples to these deities in the center of the city, as had previously been done for Jupiter. The Temple of Jupiter, located in the northern part of the forum, is of Italic design and features a high podium, thirty-seven meters long and seventeen meters wide, made with lava and tuff inserts, decorated with half-columns and hollow inside, with an entrance along the east side.

8. Piccolo Lupanare

   The Lupanare is the most famous brothel of Pompei, in between probably 3 or more that were present along the city. All around the streets of Pompei, there were clear signs (man penises, many of them still clear visible) conducing the sailors, mostly foreigners that arrived to the city on board commercial vessels, to this pleasure places. Once inside the place, a large number of famous fresh paintings (most still visible), were showing the different services the clients could get from the prostitutes either male or female, all very useful as most of clients were foreigners so did not know the local language. The building is divided in 2 floors with many small rooms where services were provided. The name Lupanare comes from the word they used to call the prostitutes,

9. Macellum

   The Macellum was built around the end of the 3rd century BC, in the late Samnite period; following the redevelopment of the Forum area, it was completely rebuilt between 130 and 120 BC. The Macellum is located in the northeast corner of the Forum, between Via degli Augustali and the sanctuary of the Public Lares: this central yet hidden location was chosen to avoid interfering with the activities of the square. Outside the perimeter walls, along the west side, which was the main side and overlooked the Forum, and along the north side, there were tabernae, all built in opus incertum, so small shops dedicated to selling goods: those on the west side were reserved for money changers, while those on the north side, along Via degli Augustali, built in this position to be protected from the sun and therefore with a cooler climate, sold foodstuffs or were occupied by the perfumers' guild.

10. Teatro Grande

    The Teatro Grande has a horseshoe shape, differing from the traditional Roman semicircular model, and was built entirely in opus incertum. The part reserved for the public was the cavea, which could accommodate about five thousand spectators; this is divided into three parts: the ima cavea, reserved for the "Decurions" (small govern titles), the media cavea, the largest and best suited for viewing the show, was intended for the guilds, and the summa cavea, with limited seating; in turn, both the media cavea and the summa cavea were divided into five zones. There must also have been a staircase resting on a corridor with barrel vaults, as other staircases are present on the "Parodoi" (corridors), an unusual feature for this type of building, as they were always uncovered and therefore certainly added at a later date. The part dedicated to the public was completed with boxes, called "tribunalia", reserved for guests of honor, who enjoyed a perfect view of the stage.

11. Pompeii

    Have 1 hour free time to have lunch or walk around the new city of Pompei, where you can find many shops for souvenirs or local stores, or simply relax and taste the local flavors. Just nowadays we have discovered, that not far after the city destruction on 79AC, new people started to get stablished in the area, up to some years ago, though in oblivion for centuries. Now the city of Pompei breathes everyday with thousands of people coming to visit the ruin, but also make base for different days, connecting perfectly all touristic attractions of the area like Napoli, Sorrento coast and Amalfi coast. The city is full of shops, culinary options and activities for families, all served with local transport all around.

12. Pompei La Basilica

    The Basilica of Beata Vergine di Pompei (Blessed Virgin of Pompei) is one of the most important basilicas in south Italy, visited by many Saints and popes through its history, among them are: San G. Moscati, Padre Pio, San Carlo Acutis, San G. Paolo II, Francis I, ecc. The cathedral is a Pontifical Papal Basilica, and hosts the papal offices in the area. In a Latin cross plan, it initially had a one nave with an apse, dome, four side chapels, and two chapels in the transept. On each side of the sanctuary, two other chapels with separate entrances but interconnected with the central nave: on the left, the chapel of Saint Catherine of Siena, where the painting of the Madonna was initially displayed during the construction of the sanctuary; on the right, the chapel of the Holy Savior, which replaced the parish church of the same name that stood on that site until 1898 and was then rebuilt a few dozen meters away. In 1925, the construction of the 88-meter-high bell tower was completed.

13. Mount Somma

    Climb from the parking area, directly to the top of Mount Somma/Vesuvio., the famous vulcano that ended with all story we know from ancient Pompei. once at the top, enjoy a magnificent view of all the territory and islands of the gulf of Napoli. From Vesuvius summit, you can admire the islands of Capri, Ischia, Procida, and also Ponza if the day is very clear. also all cities of the coast, including Sorrento coast and rest of the Gulf of Napoli and Gulf of Pozzuoli. The Distance to climb is around 900ft (280mts). and normally takes roughly 30 minutes. Considering the total altitude of the mountain, note that temperature could vary also 10 degrees Celsius in comparison with sea level, for what is recommendable to bring soft jacket.
