    Not for first-time snorkelers

This would be a good tour for experienced snorkelers, however, it was my first time at sea, and my husband's first time ever, and it wasn't a good experience. The instructor wasn't very supportive or helpful when my husband said he was nervous, and once he was in the water, he just kept shouting at him to swim (when he was clearly panicking and could have done with some calm and supportive instruction). My husband decided it wasn't for him, and came back onto the boat, which was when the instructor made him feel bad my saying that he ruined the experience for me! There was a lot more swimming involved than I had expected, and the flippers were difficult to use, so I wasn't able to snorkel for the full hour. And I know he can't guarantee what Wildlife we see, but I literally saw a few fish and that was it.

Response from the operator: We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important points. This activity requires that participants know how to swim, as clearly stated in the booking description. Your husband told us he couldn’t swim and also had a strong fear of the water — in that case, he should not have booked this kind of excursion. In fact, right after your group, even 8-year-old children took part in the same experience for the first time with no issues at all. At no time did the instructor say anything offensive. He was simply giving clear safety instructions. The claim that he told your husband he had “ruined the experience” is completely false. We must also mention that one participant weighed approximately 180 kg and the other 160 kg, which presents serious limitations for this kind of activity, both in terms of safety and mobility in the water. After the tour, you attempted to request a refund citing medical reasons, which are not consistent with the facts. The real issue was the lack of swimming ability and joining an activity that clearly states swimming is a basic requirement.

    Excellent experience

Snorkeling with turtles and rays was incredible! We were taken to a quieter area, away from many other tour groups, and got to swim with turtles, rays, barracuda, and a tuna! Our guide was very knowledgable and helpful. I would absolutely use this tour company again

    incredible

Amazing!! we were slightly late but the instructed was kind enough to still let us go . He was very kind and understanding when a couple of us did not like snorkeling after trying it for a couple of minutes and still made us feel included and have a good time. he helped us spot plenty of fish, crabs, octopuses and sting ray. He explained everything very well and maintained safety standards . 10/10 would recommend - lovely photos too!!

Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por tus comentarios , hacemos todo lo posible siempre para que todos disfruten de la experiencia, nos alegra que disfrutaran de la actividad , esperamos verles pronto de nuevo abordo

The most unprofessional company I have dealt with. Harrassed me extensively.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with this company. I feel compelled to share my story with others in a review as their incredibly unprofessional behaviour is just not OK by any standard. I booked an outing with Ocean Friends Diving to snorkel with turtles and stingrays. It was one of the main reasons for me to travel to Tenerife. I chose a much more expensive company compared to some of the other ones I saw online because I wanted an authentic experience that would respect wildlife and one that was not a tourist trap. I understand that sightings of wildlife in their environments is never guaranteed however I have gone out to sea to see dolphins many, many times and an estimate is always provided. Not here. On my outing with Ocean Friends, the second part of the ocean we snorkelled in was extremely cold and extremely choppy. I kept trying to swim to the boat and wasn't able to because it kept moving. I was alone most of the time. THe instructor spent his time with 2 Spanish tourists that were on the boat with me. In fact, I felt discriminated against due to the fact that I speak English and most of the time he was just talking Spanish with this couple who actually paid even less than me... I started to feel extremely, extremely cold and extremely sea sick. The water is much too cold for a short-sleeved bodysuit. I felt sick with the sea motion. I finally was able to make it onboard and felt EXTREMELY unwell. AT NO TIME did the instructor show any concern or take any action to lessen my extreme shivering... I was shocked to have received NO assistance from him... Not a single towel over me; no concern, no nothing. I was literally on the floor of the boat shaking violently with no strength with NO ASSISTANCE... In fact, although I was in such a deplorable state he asked me to move over so the Spanish couple could get on board and the rest of the ride back to the port he was joking with the couple, laughing while I was suffering tremendously. I am still shocked at this lack of professionalism. My partner who has a skipper license and plenty of experience on the sea including with his yacht was outraged and feels this is absolutely negligent; that is basic seafaring 101: put your body over the person so your heat can compensate for your possible hypothermia. There were no vests on board; nothing. The price point simply doesn't match the experience and lack of equipment (and assistance) they provide. I was completely neglected by the person that was supposed to look out for me on the tour. Upon arriving at the port, it was actually the female tourist that offered to help me off the boat not the person paid to do their job! This whole trip was an outrageous demonstration of negligence and lack of professionalism and care and I am angry at how poorly I was treated. When I presented these facts to Ocean Friends they actually accused me of exaggerating my experience and of trying to get a freebie!... I have never been more outraged. It's simply unfathomable to not only not assist the customer but to add insult to injury to call them a liar and grifter... Then they started a HARRASSMENT CAMPAIGN AND THREATS of legal action against me if I put up a review telling my truth! Simply absolutely unprofessional. They then bombarded my e-mail with sign-up confirmation requests from all these porn sites... Unbelievable. I woke up to e-mails from PornHub, FapHouse and many, many more... It's simply unbelievable a company that you paid a service for would act in such a deranged manner...

    Snorkeling

Beautiful fish but we did not see any turtles and most people didn’t see the one baby stingray. That was disappointing.

Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.

How much does Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.

Is Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Snorkeling Tour with Sea Turtles and Stingrays start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tenerife?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tenerife?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tenerife?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
