    About this experience

Starting from Kritinia, a small town of Cretan origin, you descend through a path surrounded by Aleppo pines, strawberry trees, wild sage and thorny oaks, to a small pebble bay that boasts a crystalline sea. The panorama enjoyed during this descent is unique: Halki, Alimia and other small islands emerge from the blue of the Aegean and this view, together with the pure air that you breathe along this route, will remain an indelible memory. After crossing the small bay, the ascent towards the castle begins along a narrower path which then opens onto land planted with vines and olive trees and delights us with particular aromas coming above all from the small aromatic plants that surround it. After visiting the castle, our excursion takes us back to the village accompanied by scents of citrus and fruit trees

Culture, nature, professionalism, and courtesy! To the maximum!

I participated with friends in two excursions organized by Hicking Rhodes and I was sorry not to be able to do more. The preparation of both guides allowed us to fully appreciate both the beautiful landscapes that I certainly would not have been able to reach, and also provided us with a solid foundation of history and tradition to enjoy the city with professionalism but without heaviness. By also pampering us with refreshments and local products, they managed to leave us curious to return to explore this beautiful island further. Until next time!

    Nice walk with beautiful views

We were picked up early sunday morning at our hotel in Faleraki by our guide Manuela ,and together with an english couple we drove to the Kritinia area where our hike started. It was a very hot day,so Manuela gave us extra bottles of water. We started walking up a steep hill, and at the top we got a beautiful view over the Aegean sea and the beautiful island Halki ( which my wife and I visited 15 years ago on a 7 day hike around the Rhodos Island) Our lunch break was in a small beach with peeble stones. We also got the chance to dip our toes in the rough sea (Manuela even went swimming in the big waves) After the break we continued to the ruins of Kritinia castle (the end of the hike)sitting on the top of a small mountain. The view here was amazing. Afterwards we had a stop in the small village of Kritinia for a cup of coffee. On our way back home we even visited the Gadoura dam in Laerna which support drinking water to the city of Rhodos. All in all a fantastic day, thanks to our guide Manuela and our traveling companions

Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rhodes.

How much does Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle cost?

    +

Prices start at $34 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rhodes usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rhodes is not rushed.

Is Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rhodes, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rhodes can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rhodes and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Small group hiking between the beach and Kritinia Castle start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rhodes within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rhodes?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rhodes experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Makarounas Fishing Boat Trip with swimming stop and BBQ on board, Rhodes Exclusive Swim Cruise Cocktail Open bar & Gourmet Buffet, Athens cruise: Agistri, Moni/Metopi, Aegina with lunch & drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rhodes?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rhodes?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
