An unforgettable experience for our family!
An unforgettable experience for our family We did the waterfall, rainforest tour, and chocolate & coffee experience, and it was truly an unforgettable day. The scenery was stunning, and each part of the tour felt thoughtful, immersive, and special. The rainforest excursion was incredible—we saw an amazing variety of wildlife—and the waterfall was absolutely beautiful. The chocolate and coffee experience was a highlight, especially getting to see the entire process from start to finish. It was engaging, educational, and enjoyable for both adults and children. Our guide, Julio, was exceptional. He was patient, calm, and extremely knowledgeable, and he went above and beyond to make sure our family was comfortable and enjoying every part of the day. His kindness and professionalism made a long day feel seamless and enjoyable. This was a magical and memorable experience, and one our family will talk about for a long time. We would absolutely recommend this tour and would not hesitate to do it again.
Response from the operator: Hi Sara Thank you so much for the wonderful review you shared. We are thrilled to hear that you and your children had such a great experience during our rainforest excursion. We truly appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you and your family back for another adventure in the future. Best regards, Carlos Porras Blue Sky Private Tours

Amazing day in Costa Rica
This was an absolutely incredible tour. Our driver was fantastic, with lots of info and facts along the way. Our guides at the coffee/cacao farm were friendly and knowledgeable. Our guide at the sloth excursion was also phenomenal, she spotted so many animals and we saw 3 sloths and a toucan, among many other amazing creatures. Lunch was great, and we had an incredible day. Everything was taken care of for us, we just got to hop in the van and enjoy ourselves.

Best Family Trip to date!
We traveled with our 4 kids ages 8-12, my 73 year old mother in law, my husband and myself. It was amazing! Carlos picked us up at the airport and took us to lunch then our resort. He arranged a snorkel tour, a fishing trip, then took us on 2 full day excursions! We saw so much wildlife in the water and on land, we experienced the rainforest, learned all about coffee and cocoa, it was amazing. Very hand on, interactive for the kids, but so many new fun things to try! The day we zip lined it started raining and I was nervous about my phone, so Carlos just said I’ll hold it then proceeded to capture all of our day including the actual zip line rides on my phone. It was amazing!! He taught us so much about the country, had lots of grace for car sick kiddos, and was available to help us with anything we needed while there! We left the trip wishing we had a Carlos in every country we want to visit! 10/10 he is who you need for your custom trip to Costa Rica!

Great day excursion near Liberia
Carlos picked us up promptly at our hotel in Papagayo. He drove us safely with lively conversation to our first destination, a small coffee and coca “farm” where we got at see the transformation process and try both coffee and hot cocoa with sugar cane. We then went to the sloth sanctuary and were able to see sloths and much more wildlife. This was our first time seeing sloths which was a very memorable experience. Thanks to Carlos and Angelica we were able to see frogs, snakes, howler monkeys, and toucans. Many of which we probably would have overlooked if not for their guidance. We then went to a local spot for a lunch of beans and rice with salad, plantains and proteins of our choice. Very tasty and filling. The fresh pineapple juice was especially good. Our last stop was to a waterfall on the way back to our hotel. It’s a short hike down a hillside to the large waterfall spot. Walk back up will get your heart pumping a bit, but nothing too difficult. Overall the trip with Carlos was excellent and I would highly recommend it to folks looking for a nice overview of the natural areas around Liberia. Oh a Carlos is a fantastic photographer too!

Costa Rica Trip 2024 August
This was my first time in Costa Rica and the experience was UNFORGETTABLE!!! The views , the excursions I was not expecting to be so much fun. Everything I did I would have never thought I would do in life. Zip lining from mountains , mud baths , being on the boat in middle of the ocean , swimming in the ocean , ATV riding so much so much and I couldn’t have had the time I did without Our guide Carlos he is truly heaven sent and IS THE BEST EVER !!! He knew the people they were very pleasing and always made sure me and my group was ok. Arrived on time to pick us up daily made sure we made to and from safely. He is definitely the #1 guide.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tamarindo.
How much does Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $275 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tamarindo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience take?
+
Plan for about 32 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tamarindo is not rushed.
Is Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tamarindo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 32-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tamarindo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tamarindo and add a light layer if any part of the 32-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tamarindo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tamarindo?
+
On Outty we rank every Tamarindo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Surf Lesson in Tamarindo - Stand Up or Your Money Back!, Sunset Catamaran & Snorkeling Tour in Playa Flamingo, Fundive Catalina Islands (2 dives, only for certified divers). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tamarindo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tamarindo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience?
+
Included: Private transportation; Bottled water; Lunch; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: Gratuities. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 160 listed pickup locations in and around Tamarindo. Be ready about 120 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience offered in?
+
It is offered in English and Spanish. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.
Is Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience wheelchair or stroller accessible?
+
The operator notes: Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller; and Specialized infant seats are available. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.
What happens to Sloth Encounter & Rainforest Experience if the weather is bad?
+
