The crew was great! Easy...
The crew was great! Easy to find on the beach and had everything ready. They know their boat like the back of their hand. Took us to three different coves to snorkel. My husband is a fish out of water and loved every minute. I’m not a good swimmer and always afraid I might drown but the crew provided me a life vest and a pool noodle. Lol We would highly recommend this tour. Only down side was the weather. The rain came in hard and we got soaked coming back to shore. Had to cut the tour short due to this. But honestly it’s worth every penny to make these memories. Pura Vida!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear you and your husband had such a great time exploring the coves with us. Our crew is passionate about creating safe and memorable experiences for every guest—whether you're a confident swimmer or just dipping your toes in. We're sorry the weather didn't hold up toward the end, but we're so glad you still felt it was worth every moment. Rain or shine, it's always an adventure and your positive spirit truly captures the essence of Pura Vida! Thank you again for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back for more sunny memories soon! Warm regards, The Seafari Costa Rica Team

Enjoyable boat trip to Las Catalina islands with snorkelling
Lovely snorkelling trip to Las Catalinas islands (not what we were expecting as the trip was advertised as being a beach snorkel). On the boat trip to the islands we saw turtles near their nesting beaches and rays playing in the waves. The trip is really targeted at divers but we had a dedicated snorkel guide & all the other scuba guides were friendly & helpful. We were fortunate that the visibility was reasonably good for snorkelling at both the dive sites and we saw lots of beautiful fish. I wouldn't say this trip is an introduction to snorkelling as there is quite a swell around the rocky islands. Not recommended for those who get seasick as you're ok the boat for about 4hrs.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience, glad to hear that you enjoyed the day out and underwater! Would like to clarify that our previous itinerary beach tour had to be modified to a Boat trip because of fuel's high fee. Appreciate your comments as we read and take in everything we can do better in the future.

Awesome snorkeling
Seafari gave us an amazing snorkeling trip. The guides were fun and professional. We had two separate locations to snorkel in and saw loads and loads of reef fish. We did have excellent conditions with very clear visibility. I’d come back for another trip.
Response from the operator: Thanks, Amy for your time sharing your experience, it is our pleasure to share the underwater world, and it's wonders. Looking forward to your next visit!

Fantastic snorkeling trip with Alejandro
Our family of four had a great snorkeling trip with Alejandro at Playa Mina, a beautiful secluded beach near Tamarindo. Alejandro was a fantastic guide. He was personable and shared his love and knowledge of Costa Rica with us. It felt like we were out with a good friend. We hired many guides on our trip and he was definitely our favorite. Book him if you can!
Response from the operator: "The ocean is our playground" Love the amazing biological museum Costa Rica has to offer, I aim to create a memorable life experience. Thanks for your review !

A great morning
We were picked up at 7am by Alejandro at the hotel and driven to a secluded and very beautiful bay. With all the necessary snorkeling equipment we went into the warm and very clear water in fives. Not far from the beach we saw beautiful colorful fish and captured everything in photos. This made the not quite inexpensive tour a very nice experience that we will never forget.
Response from the operator: Danke. Really appreciate your time and kind words about the snorkeling trip, it's a honor to show off the best of the country. Looking forward to assisting your next family vacation in Costa Rica.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Snorkeling Costa Rica: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tamarindo.
How much does Snorkeling Costa Rica cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tamarindo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Snorkeling Costa Rica take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tamarindo is not rushed.
Is Snorkeling Costa Rica worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable nightlife in Tamarindo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Snorkeling Costa Rica?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Snorkeling Costa Rica suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Snorkeling Costa Rica?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tamarindo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tamarindo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Snorkeling Costa Rica start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tamarindo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tamarindo?
+
On Outty we rank every Tamarindo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guachipelin Adventure Volcano Zipline River Tubing Combo, Sloth Wildlife Experience, Coffee, Chocolate & Waterfall, Surf Lesson in Tamarindo - Stand Up or Your Money Back!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tamarindo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tamarindo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
