Palace of Parliament
Known in the past as the Casa Republicii, then the House of the People, but not for the people, it is the main symbol of the Communist Era, meant to house the ministries, the Communist party offices or apartments of high functionaries. It was built starting 1984 on the safest place in the city, considering the high risk for earthquakes, has twelve stores, four underground levels including a nuclear bunker. Along the tour you will pass by the most important rooms in the building, conference halls, balcony (not available for the moment) with the great view of the main square, main staircases, large hallways and impressive galleries. You will be surprised by the lavishly decorated interiors, all made by local materials (marble, crystal, carpets, curtains, stucco) and by the local craftsmen.

The tour guide met our group sharply in 12 noon. He spoke very clearly in English, and has very knowledgeable about the parliament’s history, the structure of building and the architecture details. We certainly impressed about our tour.

Rudeness, vulgarism and anger
I have tried two times to book a visit via the phone today. First time, the lady was literally quarrelling with another employee in Romanian while on the phone, and when she was finished, she told me that there are no more spots for today. Second time, she said there is nothing until next week, very dismissive and blunt; I mentioned politely that she had said a minute before that we could book for tomorrow and wanted to confirm since the conversation was ended prematurely due to her pressing argument with her colleague(s). She started to raise her voice, saying "we have nothing until Monday, nothing until Monday, nothing until Monday!” and hung up on me before I had the chance to ask her to be more polite. Never in my life have I seen such rudeness from an employee dealing with paying customers in a national institution.

The Palace of Parliament is an absolute must-see in Bucharest, and this tour made the experience easy and stress-free. Having the ticket arranged in advance saved time and removed any uncertainty about entry, which was especially helpful for such a popular attraction. The building itself is breathtaking in scale, architecture, and history, and the guide provided interesting insights into its fascinating past. The tour did start a little later than scheduled, and it was somewhat shorter than I had expected. However, once it began, everything was well organized and the experience was still worthwhile.
