In stark contrast to the often overwhelmingly crowded and popular Angkorian ruins, Banteay Kdei is peaceful and quiet. Serving as a Buddhist temple, these ruins have been home to an active monastery at multiple periods since its construction in the 12th century, up until the 1960s. Today, the ruins are overgrown and seemingly forgotten by the bustling Angkor tourism industry. Its solitude and mystery make it a hidden gem for explorers of the region. Tall trees cast shade over Buddhist bas-reliefs, and many hours can be spent on its meandering design.

We had another amazing experience with Pineapple Cambodia Tours!

We had another amazing experience with Pineapple Cambodia Tours! This was our second tour with them after visiting Phnom Kulen and Beng Mealea a year ago, and once again they did not disappoint. Our guide, Sunleang and driver, Vuthy arrived early to make sure we got a great spot for the sunrise at Angkor Wat, and watching the sun rise behind the temple was absolutely beautiful. Throughout the tour, our guide shared interesting stories about the history, and temples, making every stop much more meaningful. We also visited Bayon, and Ta Prohm, (Sunleang suggested to do more but 3 main temples was enough for us), and everything was well organized without feeling rushed. The private tour gave us plenty of time to enjoy each place at our own pace. A big thank you to the Pineapple Cambodia Tours team for another wonderful day. We highly recommend them to anyone visiting Siem Reap, and we will definitely book with them again on our next trip!

Response from the operator: Dear Sa, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing Pineapple Cambodia Tours again! It means a lot to us that you came back after your previous trip. We're happy to hear you enjoyed the Angkor Wat sunrise and that Sunleang and Vuthy helped make your day special. We'll be sure to share your kind words with them—they'll be delighted to hear them. Thank you for recommending us to other travelers. We truly appreciate your support and can't wait to welcome you back to Cambodia for another adventure!

Such a great tour, and knowledgeable guide, Sunleang!

This was one of the best experiences of our trip to Cambodia. We started early to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat, and it was absolutely worth it. Our guide, Sunleang, took us to a great spot, and the view was beautiful as the sun came up behind the temple. Sunleang was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared lots of interesting information about the temples and Cambodian history, which made the tour even more enjoyable. The private tour was very comfortable because we could take our time, ask questions, and enjoy each place without feeling rushed. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Siem Reap. Thank you, Sunleang, for making this such a memorable experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Angkor Wat sunrise tour and that it was one of the highlights of your trip to Cambodia. Thank you for your nice words about Sunleang. Wonderful sunrise tour of Angkor!

We had an amazing experience on this private sunrise tour. We started very early in the morning, but it was absolutely worth it. Our guide, Ben took us to a great spot in front of Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise, and seeing the temple reflected in the water (moat) as the sky changed colors was truly beautiful. Ben was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared many interesting stories about Angkor and Cambodia's history. It made visiting the temples much more meaningful than just walking around on our own. The tour was well organized, comfortable, and at a relaxed pace. Since it was a private tour, we had plenty of time to ask questions and take photos without feeling rushed. We highly recommend this sunrise tour to anyone visiting Siem Reap. Watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat and exploring the ancient temples with a knowledgeable guide was an unforgettable experience and one of the best memories from my trip to Cambodia. And once again, thanks Ben for buying us coffees while we were waiting for the sun to rise...., such a great guide.

Response from the operator: Dear Noah, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you had such an amazing sunrise experience at Angkor Wat. Watching the sunrise reflected in the moat is truly a special moment, and we're glad you enjoyed it. Ben will be very happy to know that his knowledge, stories, and friendly service helped make your visit more meaningful and memorable. He always loves sharing Cambodia's history and culture with our guests. Thank you as well for mentioning the coffee! It's the little things that can make an early morning start more enjoyable, and Ben will certainly appreciate your kind words. We truly appreciate your recommendation and are honored to have been part of one of your best memories in Cambodia. We hope to welcome you back to Siem Reap again in the future! Sincerely, Pineapple Cambodia Tours,

A private sunrise tour you need to book!

Seriously, this private tour was the best thing we did in Cambodia. I know everyone says you have to see the Angkor Wat sunrise, but going private makes it 100 times better. It turned a potentially stressful, crowded morning into a super relaxed and personal experience. Our guide, Paren was absolutely fantastic. They showed up right on time and immediately took charge. They handled the crowds like a pro and made sure we got the perfect spot—seriously, we had the best view! While we waited for the sun to rise and turn everything golden, Paren told us such cool stories and shared the history of the temples. It was like having a super knowledgeable friend show you around. After the sunrise, we went straight into exploring the rest of the park while it was still quiet. We saw the giant faces at Bayon (so cool!), the huge walls of Angkor Thom, and the amazing jungle takeover at Ta Prohm. Plus, we got to see the beautiful Banteay Kdei. If you're thinking about seeing Angkor Wat, please do yourself a favor and book this exact tour. It's totally worth the money for the amazing guide, the hassle-free experience, and getting to see the temples up close. Highly, highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Dear Yip, Thank you so much for sharing such an enthusiastic review! We’re thrilled to hear that your Angkor Wat sunrise experience was a highlight of your time in Cambodia. Going private really does make the morning so much more relaxed, and we’re glad Paren could guide you through the crowds and find the perfect spot for those magical sunrise views. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed exploring Bayon, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, and Banteay Kdei with us. Paren will be so happy to hear your kind words about their knowledge and care. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we’re delighted the tour exceeded your expectations. We hope to welcome you back to discover even more hidden gems of Cambodia on your next visit! Sincerely, Pineapple Cambodia Tours,

That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
